The Chomby is a shy, plant-eating Limited Edition Neopet reminiscent of an Apatosaurus and a Stegosaurus. Chombies come from Tyrannia, and first appeared on the site when Tyrannia was discovered on 21 March 2001. They were first available to adopt the following day.

The Chomby is a hefty Neopet - a single one can shake the ground on its own. The Maraquan Chomby is a reference to the legend of the Loch Ness Monster. In the Neopets Trading Card Game, they are associated with the element of light.

Battledome

In the Battledome, Chombies take 20% less damage from physical attacks, and 10% less damage from fire attacks. They also have six species abilities:

• Chomby Spin - Attack: 1 - 2 x Physical; Defence: none; available from level 1;
• Chomby Roar - Attack: 2 x Earth, 2 x Air; Defence: none; available from level 2;
• Chomby Stomp - Attack: 2 - 3 x Earth, 2 - 3 x Air; Defence: none; available from level 20;
• Chomby Scream - Attack: 2 x Air, 1 - 2 x Physical; Defence: none; available only on Chomby Day;
• Chomby Power Shield - Attack: none; Defence: 0 - 5 x Light; available only on Chomby Day;
• Chomby Slam - Attack: 2 x Earth, 2 x Physical; Defence: none; available only on Chomby Day;

There are also sixteen pieces of equipment that can only be used by Chombies.

• They are featured in 94 different items.
• Chombies were the first pet with the ability to be the colour 8-bit.
• As of April 2010, the cheapest Chomby Morphing Potion is the Green Chomby Morphing Potion, costing 750,000 neopoints. The only other way to obtain a Chomby is to zap in the lab or create on Chomby Day.
