Users had been wanting a snake Neopet for a long time, and were happy to see the Hissi created. It is generally considered to be a fairly good pet, with nice artwork for the standard colors. Since most of the Neopets are drawn "cute," there is a large group of players who celebrate every time Neopets releases a non-cuddly pet.

The Hissi is a snake-like Neopet with wings, likely based on the Aztec serpent god Quetzalcoatl. It was released May 4, 2005. Hissi have acute vision and a keen sense of smell which makes them extremely good at games of hide and seek.
