Update on all available tools needed

The following is a collected list of programs/tools used by Neopets users which are commonly used through play, make it easier to navigate the website or help you understand the game better.

Internal tools[edit]

The following are tools which are found on Neopets, and can be used at a user's discretion:

Shop Wizard[edit]

One of the most basic tools to Neopets users, the Shop Wizard allows users to search for average prices of items in Neopets. Through the Shop Wizard, users are able to gauge the price and worth of items, thereby affecting the Neopian economy.

Neopets Premium[edit]

Not a program, but a whole new login and playing experience. Neopets Premium is a paid service provided by Neopets.

Neopets Toolbar[edit]

A toolbar Neopets provides to users, offering quicklinks.

Outside Neopets[edit]

Besides tools found within Neopets, there are also those which can be used on a users own computer and around the internet. While some tools are deemed all right, there are some programs which are not, as it would allow a user to have an unfair advantage over other users (auto refreshing, auto shop wizard searching). The NeoDex does not endorse cheating of any kind, and doing so will either get a user suspended for a period of time or Frozen.

Graphics websites[edit]

Websites such as Mbif's Backgrounds & More host special images for users to use in their User Lookup and other customizable areas around the site.

Art software[edit]

To compete against other users for better images, users could use image editing programs such as Microsoft Paint or similar programs to give them a more professional look. Also, in previous plots such as The Hunt for the Crown, users could find clues by editing images with an art program like Microsoft Paint which could be found on almost every computer.

Mozilla Firefox[edit]

Mozilla Firefox is a web browser which has gained popularity with it's easy to use interface and more advanced options than other Internet browsers. Extensions, or add on programs, can be added to it to change how Firefox displays web pages. For example, some extensions can block banner ads and pop-ups placed within websites, including Neopets. Some users have also taken advantage of logging into two different accounts with this and another browser, quickly taking a Neopet they have put into the Neopian Pound on their side account.

NeoDaq.xls[edit]

The NeoDaq.xls is an Excel Spreadsheet created and maintained by the NeoDaq community used to keep track of a users Stock Market portfolio. This comprehensive tool tracks all a users buys and sales and calculates numerous statistics. The legality of the spreadsheet was questioned at one point, but was found to be acceptable due to the fact it does not actually automate anything, but only organizes and tracks information.

Excel files (.xls) have the capability of containing possibly files called macros. Macros may add functionality to a document, but could also be used maliciously. As such, users should not enable macros unless they trust the source.

Shop.xls[edit]

The Shop.xls is another excel spreadsheet to come out of NeoDaq. created by abreev8, the Shop.xls tracks a users shop and SDB making shopping and restocking easier. Users can add a list of items they want to stock in their shop and how many of them they want to keep in stock and the shop.xls will mark what items need to be bought to refill a shop and much more. To get the latest version, uses can go to the Shop.xls thread in the Neodaq forums. Version 2 of the spreadsheet is currently in the works and promises more useful features.
