Clothes are a type of item sold in Clothing Shop. Introduced on (need date), Clothes come in many different shapes, the most common being shirts. They usually feature a certain Neopet, Petpet or character, with their shape to signify accordingly. Despite the fact there are clothes in Neopets, not many Neopets are seen wearing Clothes, and for a long time clothes could not be put onto a users Neopet until April 27, 2007.

Use on Neopets[edit]

For a long time, clothes served no real use on Neopets, because unlike real clothes, they could not be placed onto a users Neopet. The reason for this was to relieve the headache it would cause to redraw all the Neopets to have all the items be used. Due to this, their only use on Neopets was for completion of a Faerie Quest for the Fire Faerie, or have them served as collectables in a user's Item Gallery.

This changed on April 18, 2007, when Neopet Customisation Beta was released, testing a new customising system which was made permemant on April 27, 2007, with the release of Neopets 2.0. Finally deciding to take the difficult path of redrawing many different clothing on Neopets, clothing items are slowly becoming wearable by Neopets, from species-specific clothing to previously release ones.

Due to the ability of specially Paint Brushed Neopets of saving species specific clothing, there has been confusion between clothing items and Paint Brush clothing, which cannot be placed in a users inventory. As of May 2007, there are 1102 different species-specific Paint Brush Clothes a Neopet can collect.
