Artist Interview with Shollia

1. At what age did you first begin drawing?

I don't really know when I started to draw, but if I had to guess... probably around 7yrs old.

2. Do you draw your masterpieces on the computer, by hand, or do you use both methods?

I use both, draw it out with pencil first and then color it on the computer.

3. What do you enjoy most about drawing?

I get to draw out the ideas in my head.

4. Have you won any awards for your art?

Hmm, I've never won anything major. I won a few small things in elementary school and a few things in high school. One was a statewide thing and the other was just a school thing.

5. Do you plan or are you already involved in a career in art?

One day, I would really love to have my own comic book.

6. Who is your favorite artist?

Wendy Pini. Hands down it's her. She's the creator and artist of the comic book Elfquest.

7. What do you believe is the best way to get inspiration when drawing something?

Best inspiration for me is to go check out other artists' artwork.

8. Any examples of your work for us to see?

9. How did you discover you were such an amazing artist?

Well, first off... I really don't consider myself as an "amazing" artist, but to answer the question! I guess it was in the 5th grade when my picture was chosen to be on the t-shirts for the art club.

10. Any people you'd like to thank for your success?

Too many to thank really, but just off the top of my head. But my dad, brother, sis-in-law, boyfriend, high school art teacher, homeroom teacher in the 6th/8th grade.

11. Do you have any advice for aspiring artists?

Practice, practice, practice and don't be afraid to try new things
