The Magician School

Kai Cordatus was a very normal person, well, in his dreams maybe. Kai loved life, well, everyone else’s life. His life was quite abnormal. He had soft brown hair that he ran his hands through when he was nervous or excited. His eyes were a stony gray that twinkled when he was happy or… well, to put it simply, Kai’s emotions were clearly shown in his eyes. His face could remain blank but his eyes could be dancing around pleasantly like a popular burlesque house.
Kai was 11 years old; he was around average height and neither skinny nor fat. He seemed like an overall nice person except that when you actually looked deep into his eyes you could see a giant raging inferno inside his very soul, but this inferno was covered by a seemingly real material so hard that it made the strongest steel look like water dripping through your hands.
This was mostly why people stayed away from him; the other reason was that strange things always seemed to happen to him. When Kai was 5 he had almost been run over but had suddenly smashed his fist hard into the ground, crushing the front of the car and a few of his knuckles. As well, just last year he was running from some drunken teenagers with knives, he was wishing he was somewhere safe and he suddenly found himself in his room at home. That’s probably the reason why he was the top of his class; he had no friends so all he could do was study.
Now, Kai’s home life was perfect, well, as perfect as life could be with a little brother. His brother was named Jaylen; his parents had always liked unusual names. His Mum and Dad were called James and Lisa; together they were an average family, well, except for Kai of course.
Sometimes when Kai would be in bed he would sort of feel a soft tingling in his heart and when he was angry you could sort of feel some sort of power radiating from him, like that inferno inside of him had burst open to reveal a river of power. You couldn’t see it but could feel the power rolling off of him and it was quite unnerving.
When Kai got home from school, he once again sighed. He was tired of having no friends, well, at least they couldn’t open up his temper and make him do his ‘Power Out’ as he had labeled it. His parents of course sympathized for him while Jaylen teased him about his weirdness, overall none of this helped much.
Kai quickly put away his bag and logged onto his favorite chat room and sure enough she was there. His only friend who actually understood him. Her name was actually Ember Ashes but online she called herself Nynon. He called himself Bluegen for no particular reason. She seemed to understand all that happened to him and some of the same things had happened to her too.
She was the only person who didn’t avoid him and only she seemed to be able to calm him down. They were very close friends and wanted to meet but she lived in Scotland and he lived in a little town called Castleford in England. For some reason she called everyone who didn’t do abnormal things like them ‘Neetons’.
Bluegen: Hi, Ny!
Nynon: Hey, Blue.
Bluegen: How are you today?
Nynon: Fine, you?
Bluegen: I’m good, a bit annoyed but okay.
Nynon: School?
Bluegen: Yeah, tired of the people there avoiding me, did I do something wrong?
Nynon: Don’t worry, it’ll come soon.
Bluegen: Huh?
Nynon: Oh, never mind.
Bluegen: Whatever.
Kai really was curious but he hid it, which was quite easy as she couldn’t see his eyes. After five minutes of normal talking she had to log off leaving Kai the rest of the day to wonder about what she said. ‘Don’t worry, it’ll come soon.’, what did that mean? The words rang in his head that night as he fell to sleep fitfully. Kai would be finding out next week, and it would change his life forever.
