I really like the UK cover. I remember when they released the last one... I bought it and spent the next 5-8 hours reading it in one go.

So apparently some hacker hacked into the email of a Bloomsbury worker and found out who's going to die. One of the HK newspapers picked that up and had a rather large title in the front page:

HERMIONE DIES - See Page A34

I'm peeved. I hope the hacker's just bluffing, and the aforementioned character doesn't really die.

I'm not reading that spoiler! EVER.

Man. Why do people have to be such jerks about this? Who in their right mind would want to hack into something like that just to ruin the books for how many people? For the love of art supplies, people need to get a life.

What peeved me off wasn't the hacker, it was the newspaper editor. WHY THE HECK DID THEY PUT THAT SPOILER ON THE FRONT PAGE, FOR GOD'S SAKE??? :x

Something about the spoiler above being true seems unlikely, which is just as well. wonder how Rowling(and her people) will handle this, whether they'll do a full denial both of the hack and the spoilers, or whether they'll deny the hack but not comment on the spoilers, or what.
Also, I'm glad we have spoiler tags now--but they beg to be clicked. "Click me! Click me!" they clamor.

Re: Harry Potter (split, finally!)

Not clicking, as Bloomsbury issued a "neither confirm nor deny" statement concerning the hacker so there's a chance it's the real thing.

I thought the claim was that he'd got a digital manuscript, though, not that he'd hacked into their email, so if the guy were both for real and the jerk he would be if he posted who dies, we'd be absolutely drowning in spoilers. Snape, for starters. (Who would, I maintain, be right at home in Menzoberranzan.)

You know, I suddenly really wish Tony Blair had issued a "neither confirm nor deny" statement when asked about the events of The Other Minister. That'd be gold.

With all the security around book 7, I'm 95% sure its a hoax. I'm not saying that character WON'T die, but if he/she does, it proves nothing.

They don't have digital copies of the book where they could be hacked via the internet, I'm sure. And if they hacked someone's email and found out, that employee would be in so much trouble for reading the book its not even funny....

Sorry if this has already been posted but according to mugglenet the recent ootp conference revealed a minor book 7 hint.
Initially producer David Heyman mentioned:
"Jo reads each draft. She reads each screenplay, and she said, 'You know, I wouldn't do that if I were you. Or you can, but if you get to make a seventh film, you'll be tied in knots.'" ...."Which character was it?" he was asked, but Heyman teased, "I thought you might ask that. I'm not going to say."

However yesterday director David Yates mentioned that:
It was Kreacher, actually. We took Kreacher out, and Jo said, ‘Listen guys, you don’t have to put Kreacher back, but I’m just telling you, if you want to kind of keep a thread going for six and seven, you might want Kreacher to come back.’ She basically told us Kreacher plays a role in Seven, in a sense. She hinted. We thought about it for five seconds, and he came back

EDIT: Forgot to mention that harry potter fans on ppt might appreciate my marauders-themed side account. Although coding-wise it's still a work in progress, enjoy :)

My stepdad told me about that.

It also apparently said that that person died because....

She jumped in front of Ron to save him from something.....

so I'm a bit. >_< I don't want them to die!!!
Couldn't JK take legal action against them though for printing it on the front page?

That would just confirm it if it were true, and if it were false, she'd have no reason to sue.

My guess is that Aberforth, Dumbledores brother has something to do in the last book.

I havn't looked at any of the spoilers, yay me. And i'm not going to! But i'm still holding out that Snape is truly evil.

I finished rereading book 6, and now i'm rereading book 5. It's weird going backwards. Occulemency really must suck though.

For starters, Aberforth, as the Hog's Head barman, might well clear up any remaining issues with the prophecy - and if putting the two accounts side-by-side is any indicator, they're pretty big issues.

Also refusing to subscribe to the Lightning-Tower Pact, which may be quite complex and all that but makes no sense as a strategy, and maintaining that while Snape isn't loyal to Voldemort, he'd be right at home in Menzoberranzan.

Who's the other guy there? There's Harry and Hermione, but where's Ron (or is Ron no longer red-headed? :P)

I'm pretty sure Aberforth will have something to do with it as well--in book 4, Albus mentioned that his brother was ostricized for practicing immoral charms on a goat, and in book 5 Harry noitices that the Hog's Head barman smells like a goat. Of course, JKR has also confirmed that the barman is Aberforth. JKR isn't one to put in superflouous details--the books are long enough as it is. So I thinnk he'll play a part in book 7.

As far as Snape goes, I think he's probably good. But I'm not sure. After all, he and Dumbledore stared at each other for a long time before Snape killed Dumbledore. They're both skilled Leigilmens (I KNOW I spelled that wrong :P), they were obviously doing SOMETHING. And Snape had the oppertunity to kill Harry at the end, or at least stun him and take him to Voldemort. He didn't. Draw your own conclusions.

TDG: I think that IS Ron on the cover, but due to the lighting his hair doesn't really look red. I dunno.

What I want to know is how the mirror that Sirius gave Harry is gonna come into play--JKR has said they will. *hoping for more Sirius, even though he's 'dead'*

The nerd in me started asking "What kind of dragon is it" and the best I could come up with would be welsh green based on the known species. I dunno. I'm rather dissapointed it's not the horn tail.
