This is a hard decision. Overall, Washu from Tenchi Muyo is my favorite, but Vash the Stampede from Trigun and the freaky guitar lady from FLCL come close. (What is her name, anyway? ..; )

Kudos to FLCL for a completely original series. Not any of this 'saving the world, dueling with cards/monsters' themes that seem to be popping up.

Her name is Haruko Haruhara. That's a great anime. I haven't watched it in a long time, though.
