Ok I finally came backto this subject and I know ya missed me Callie!
Our band director transposes her (ours when I play my flute) parts from the Alto 1 (me) part, one of her songs goes with the trumpet part almost fully and then another is a mix between Alto 1 and Trombone transposition.
She really does sound good when she can be heard and one of our songs (I Get Around-Beach Boys) she even shares a solo with me at the moment.I rather play Alto in Jazz as there is only one other Alto ever since my partner 1st Alto player switched to Baritone Sax and well the only other player doesn't really know his notes to well and leaving him with 1st while I play flute would kill the band I think.

I'm coming back to this topic too.
I've been taking lessons this semester at college. My flute teacher plays a lot of jazz flute and sax.
But besides working on classical styles, he said he was going to teach me some techniques for jazz and how to improvise. I mentioned that I've never really played flute in jazz band. And because I never really got the hang of trombone...I've never improvised for jazz.

Thanks! It sounds like fun. I might have to do the transposing myself, since our director is the band teacher at the high school and middle school. hmm.... *plots*
