Suggestions (avatar forum & help questions) & a comp

Thanks for the great forums - keep up the good work.

Please consider making a separate board for avatars. Just reading through the thread (split) gave me a headache! It's like reading a long thread with lots of off-topic posts. It desperately needs several topic headers eg. lending/requests; pick your own tips (for getting the avatar, not playing the game;) etc. I'm using the pick your own as an example because it was one of the posts I wanted to respond to but realized my reply would be 7 pages later in the thread and I would end up quoting nearly a whole page just to catch people up to what I was talking about!

Please also consider allowing simple, related questions / inquiries to remain in the topic they are most related to. I love the new help forum, but some questions just seem to belong elsewhere. Eg. On a trading/shop ads/auction forum, questions such as "is this a fair trade" or "does anyone know the price of" are usually commonplace and get quick, reliable answers because the users most likely to be in that forum are those that are the most involved or interested in trading, auctions, etc. Or, on the avatar forum *hint - hint*, questions regarding how to get each of the avatars, or "how many times do I need to refresh," just seem to belong.

We have an avatar sticky in Neopets Help. Apart from new avatar discussion which goes in Neopets General, all avatar discussion goes there. You can find it here

Because of the new "Bill" forum, it seems that it is only for advertising. This is a problem, because it leaves nowhere to post questions relating to shops and stocks and that. I really don't know whether you should post them or in the help forum. Again, if you have a question about the avatar sticky, it will stay there

Hope this helps

Although I am not 100% sure about this, I think the previous Stock, Trade board and the Advertising board were combined into one big Bill board, as neither of them were very active in their own right, as compared to other boards. ( http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=38 )

The description of the Bill board on the Index page does say it's also for trading, and there are threads on stock, etc, in there.

The avatar sticky is the one I was suggesting be made into a forum. It's the one that been split and is EXTREMELY difficult to follow / find certain information. It's like reading through a thread with several off-topic posts. <see above> But, I have seen several topics in general and help that weren't "moved" to the sticky.

I agree totally about the shops / trades forum. The reason I posted this suggestion is that I am constantly seeing "moved to help" on these types of questions. Maybe a "Bill" sticky inside a shop / trades / auctions / stock market forum?? Dunno.

I think you're right. It seems like that's the way it was, with a shop ads (Bill) sticky. The reason I made the suggestion was that I had come across several of those types of questions that had been moved to help with "inquiring" in nature as the reason for the move.

JimEdit : Posts combined. Please dont double-post, mate. Use the Image option if you have something to add. Thanks :)

Okay, you may not have known this, but Double Posting is against the rules here. This is when you post on the same thread twice in a row. Please try and remember this next time.

In the general chat board, the chat allowed is all about new avatars, and, when the chat dies down, they'll sink down the boards, and that chat goes to the avatar help.

Okay, this board waws originally intended for advertising, but due to the lack of places to ask about shops, trading and stocks, all conversation there on that topic is on-topic ^.^

Thanks Jim. I actually didn't see Lillie's response until I made the first post, then couldn't figure out how to quote her and put that in an edit?? Sorry, I've never posted on forums much before now.

No problem mate :) Might I suggest you read this Handy-dandy New Members Guide written by the lovely Charisma? You can also read up on other forum guidelines in the EYNTK section.
