Werewolf

The latest craze to be sweeping the PPT forums is in the form of a game. Not just any game, but one that is rather appropriate for this issue's Halloween theme – the game of Werewolf.
Brought over from the IDB forums, ScottNak has been running the games. With the first game completed a little while ago, the second one began shortly after. At the time of writing, it is still in play, with one werewolf running around and desperately trying to eliminate the five innocents left.
After missing the sign ups for the first game, I was lucky enough to be able to participate in the second (and current) one. For those of you who don't know much about the game, I'll give you a quick rundown.
Werewolf is essentially a role-play and strategy game. The aim is to work together with your team to find and eliminate the bad guys. However, this is where it gets tricky. Since roles are not revealed until the death of the character, you never know what team someone is on. There's a lot of lies going on, as the werewolves (and, in the second game, the Mafia members) attempt to divert suspicion from themselves.
There are also a number of other roles. Some have already been put into the game play; others are too complex for now and hence have not been seen as of yet. Currently, there are four "special' roles. These are the Mystic, who has the power to dream of one person each night and to find out if they are a werewolf or not; the Shaman, who has the power to protect one person from the werewolves each night; the Angel, who has the power to dream of one person and to find out if they are a Mafia member or not; and the Archangel, who has the power to protect one person from the Mafia each night.
After a disappointing start for the innocents, in which they managed to execute their Angel without giving her a chance to dream, things have finally picked up for him in the end. A surprising confession from okamotosan18, resulting in the execution of the final Mafia member, meant that the innocents were down to a ratio of two wolves against five of them.
However, they then managed to execute the second wolf, raising their odds of winning. Surprisingly, there was no mauling that night – it appears the remaining wolf forgot to submit the list. Now, all the remaining innocents need to do is find and execute the final wolf, while making sure they don't lose any more members of their team.
I was able to catch up with the MC of the Werewolf games, ScottNak, and ask him a few questions about the game.
Why did you decide to bring Werewolf over to PPT?
Well, I've been in 10 previous games at IDB prior to bringing it to PPT. I had quite a fun time playing it and I couldn't help but to bring it to where I normally go for foruming ;)
How do you think the PPTers have reacted to Werewolf so far?
I'm very (happily) surprised that they've taken such an enthusiasm to this game. Those who played really seem to take a liking to it, and we're actually advancing through the difficulty levels in the game pretty quickly. Although, that's probably in part because I want to see how these complicated games end up for PPT too :P
Are you planning on running any more games after the completion of the current one?
Most definitely. I've completed writing the rules for the next version, as well as halfway completed writing up the roles for the next one. It'll be more complicated than last game. It will be very exciting >=D
Sounds fun. What new roles can we look forward to seeing?
Ah. That I cannot say. Because a certain someone will most likely be participating in the game as well.
Are you willing to accept bribes for the roles? ;)
Absolutely not. But I will be willing to shoot anyone who tries to ;)
You'd shoot me!? :O
I'd shoot anyone >=D
Anything else you want to add?
I have to give my thanks to Neopetsmom (an old mod here, super mod at IDB) who has been the primary MC at the games I have played at. Without her, there's no way that I could have had all the fun that I experienced with Werewolf... and no way that Werewolf would have come to PPT (at least, under my wings :P) So... Thanks to Neopetsmom again.
Right, thanks for your time. I'm sure we can look forward to a lot more games of Werewolf here at PPT. Just make sure next time I die, I get an interesting death scene ;P
Well, hopefully that explains some of the game to all of you. And good luck to the rest of the innocents, though they may very well have won by the time this is published. ;)
