FrankieG's Sunday Sports Corner

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS. That's what the New York Jets fans will be cheering as they take on the New England Patriots this week. Both teams are entering the game having won all of their games so far. It should be an intense game fueled by the fact that the Boston Red Sox recently beat the New York Yankees this past week. Coincidence?

Yes, thats right. For those of you that aren't into the sports world as much as some rabid fans, the Red Sox finally beat the Yankees in the playoffs. New York pulled off to an early lead of three games to none, but then followed it up by the biggest breakdown in MLB playoff history, losing the final four games. As for the other team in the World Series, it's the St. Louis Cardinals. They won their fourth game in the seventh game of the series which had also been intense but was unfortunately living in the shadows of the Yankees-Red Sox matchup. By the time you all read this the World Series will most likely be finished with so...

If Boston Wins: The curse is finally over!

If St. Louis Wins: How did the Red Sox lose to us, but beat the Yankees?

Anyway, back to football. Nothing too major recently. The trial for Ricky Williams, who has said he would play for one more year, took place a couple of days ago and rumors say that the NFL gave him a definate no. Meanwhile, Maurice Clarett is still trying to change the rules of the NFL by getting rid of the age limit but isn't having good luck with it, which most fans are grateful for. Some bitter words were exchanged between former teammates Jeff Garcia and Terrell Owens who had a troubled relationship playing in San Francisco. Their new teams will meet up in Cleveland this week as the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Cleveland Browns.

How 'bout some time to talk about Hockey. NHL? What NHL? The lockout is currently 37 days and 19 hours as I type this and no big progress has been made.

The NBA is still in it's preseason, so no big things are happening there either. The Miami Heat looks to be competitive though with their offseason addition of Shaquille O'Neal, as they have currently won four of their five preseason games.

Anyway, that's all out of me for now. If you'd like to make any comments concerning this article or just sports in general feel free to PM me. (And before I get tons of PM's saying this is all a bit of old news... I know, but there's not much I can do about that)
