Quests are special tasks given to you by certain citizens of Neopia. Some are opt-in (like Edna's and The Brain Tree), while others are Random Events (such as the Faerie Quests). All quests require the user to obtain one or more items and there is always a time limit for the optional ones.

Random Quests[edit]

Random Quests are, as the name implies, random. There is no way to control whether you get one or not. They are given to players by one of nine Uber Faeries, which is why they are also known as Faerie Quests, although there are Faeries that give Quests that are not Random. Each of the six Elemental Faeries asks for one specific type of item while the three Special Faeries (Space Faerie, Fyora, and Fountain Faerie) request any item within a certain rarity range. The reward for completing the quests is always the same dependent on which Faerie gives the quest. Originally, players could go to the faeries to request a quest but on 2 October 2000 they became Random.

If you are on a Random Quest, you can not use the Shop Wizard or the Super Shop Wizard as it is considered cheating but you are free to ask someone else to look the item up for you on the Neoboards or through Neomail.

You have the option of canceling the quest by visiting the Quest Building in the Faerie City. The only penalty for canceling a quest is a ban from having one for 600 seconds, or 10 minutes.

Optional Quests[edit]

There are other Quests players can do throughout Neopia. They are found in several of the different worlds and can be done whenever a player wishes to. These Quests are also timed, which is why they are often referred to as Timed Quests and, unlike Random Quests, the user still has access to the Shop Wizard.

Jobs[edit]

While not exactly a quest for a certain person in Neopia, Jobs from the Faerieland Employment Agency are quests of a sort. These are optional, still allow the use of the Shop Wizard and are timed. Players can go to the Employment Agency and get one of two types of job, either Basic, which requires nothing other than good timing to get, or Super, which require a Job Coupon. Anyone who takes a job is required to bring 1-6 of the same item to get the reward. The reward is always pre-stated payment in Neopoints with the chance of a bonus if the player completes the assignment quickly. When completed, the player's active pet is given credit for completing the job and is given a rank based on how many jobs have been completed.
