The '''Tax Beast''' is a green imp who travels [[Neopia]] levelling a [[wikipedia:tax|tax]] on players' [[Neopoints]] in a [[Random Event]]. He first appeared on 30 October 2002. When he appears, he steals ten percent of the Neopoints the user has on hand - but he cannot tax the Neopoints they may have in the [[National Neopian]] or their [[shop]] till. A related monster, the [[Angry Tax Beast]], is a red imp that steals twenty five percent of a user's on hand Neopoints. 

After he has taken a player's Neopoints, they are able to challenge him in the [[Battledome]].<br style="clear:both"/>
