Ever gone to Keenspot.com? It was a site that hosted over 50 webcomics, but about a month ago, a third-party spyware company is using a hole in Microsoft security to put things on your computer without your permission.

It hi-jacked the website of one of Keenspot's sponsors, which the company practically depends on to stay afloat. The sponsor removed most of it, but in May it asked if I wanted to download Install026.exe.

I happened to be downloading a MMORPG in another window, so I thought the program had something to do with it. I said yes, and then it took two months to get my computer working.

I quarantined all infected files. It turned out it infected a DLL file vital to the computer, and I didn't know MacAfee deletes all quarantined files when you uninstall (I was getting a better disc). It said my computer had changed so much that Windows will shut down in 3 days after that.

I talked with Microsoft, got another activation code, and I got 30 days to reinstall Windows. I reformatted and eventually I found out ALL the files from before the reformatting were still on there, in addition to what I redownloaded.

Long story short, don't go to Keenspot.com right now. You'll get into quite a mess.

Nope, never went to that website, the only ones I go to most of the time are Neopets, Pinkpt, and google. But my sister and brother-in-law both use the computer, I don't know where they go.

Screenshot, I don't even know how my computer managed to get infected with 9120 spyware/adware/malware/data miners.

Neopets Addict - Geez. Have you done a virus scan recently? I can't see how you'd have that much spyware.

how long ago did you run a scan on it, if its been months then it can get up quite high.

btw, some of the games arn't working, it was like that when the site was down once earlier

WOW The most I ever had was like 125 and I thought that was really bad (was the first time I scanned) now its usually around 20 every week and they are always the same but not really sure where they come from

Try running spybot too. Usually I will use spybot and adware together.

I would try doing it a little at a time if doing it all at once is freezing up the program.

Oh well, back to crap setmaking for me.

Woah. That Install026.exe program infected over 150 files and left 5 programs on AdAware that kept coming back until I reformatted.

Even then, strangely, all the files from before the reformatting were still on there, but at least now they're not doing anything and their sizes have all been reduced to 0 bytes?

Reformatting might not erase the files, but it'll probably stop them from doing anything.

try clearing your temp internet files and your history. I usually clear the temp internet files and cookies almost every few days and the history ever 2 days.
