Uggh... made it through two 3-modifier puzzles. I think I sorta have a system now, and am working much faster through the third one. I hope this one is the 'winning' message and I won't have to do anymore... I'd die if I had to work through ALL of them (as others have done).

Hopefully TNT won't shut down the puzzle til after the weekend. At the current rate of a couple of hours per puzzle... *headdesk*

EDIT: Made it through three now. Onto the fourth... :)

Given that so far you need to have completed earlier puzzles in order to progress I imagine TNT will be very generous with the time they give to complete puzzles (and that's even if they do bother to withdraw puzzles before the end of the plot). You should be alright :)

satiran what's your soloution? So far I'm using a mix of kyootestlenny and zamahila's methods and using some of my mind but still I haven't even completed 1 mod3 puzzle.

EDIT: WAHOOO! First mod3 puzzle solved! Now military grade ones are unlocked so I should just skip the rest of the maintaince reports (yeah I have a bad spelling).

MayEdit: Please do not double-post. If you were the last to post and you have something to add, please use the handy Image button in the lower right corner of your post. :)

After I solved a puzzle, I went onto the next one and solved in a VERY small number of moves. It was a FLUKE. It didn't take very long, in my opinion. Would I be frozen for this?

Congrats karnatu on solving the first one! Am off to bed now, it's almost 3 am on Friday NZ time lol.

My method is as follows... I'm solving the puzzles with the O symbol first (that is, those puzzles with 7 glyphs). First, I use KyootestLenny's petpage to determine the combos I need to try (if the user was on ppt I'd give him/her a huge  for sharing their work with us all). I input the possible combos into an Excel spreadsheet.

Then I manually list on paper the first symbol of each modifier code, numbered from 1-30. I input this into Excel again, then use Excel to sort by alphabetical order. This gives me various 'sets' organised by the first symbol of each code, 1-30. Then it's just process of elimination (ugh!) going through each possible combo. I'm finding it easiest using pen and paper at this stage, and cross-check the second symbol against KyootestLenny's page again to speed things up a little.

Hope that sorta makes sense... as I said, it's super early in the morning and I'm kinda high from lack of sleep! :)

I don't think so. Some people have been solving them on paper by writing stuff down and using process of elimination rather than click and drag process-of-elimination.

Why would you? TNT are not out to 'get' anyone. It is possible for some to do this kind of stuff standing on their heads and for other's a fluke. My 2nd mod3 was solved in about 6 tries - it was very quick.

TNT have stated what would get you frozen and being lucky or quick is not one of them. :D

Don't worry, honestly. :)
You are solving the puzzles with your own brainpower, so you're fine. Just imagine...there are some math whizzes out there that can calculate this breezily, without even clicking and dragging. ;)

So how would TNT differentiate between lucky/smart people and cheaters?

They can't.

As far as I knew, they only froze people who advocated the banned method, either by sharing it or saying they had used it to complete the puzzle.

EDIT: Just trying to reassure you, I have a couple fluke ones as well (third combo solved the puzzle, whee), and nothing has happened to me. So don't stress. :) Gotta run to work now, good luck w/ the rest!

How do they do it any other time?

Only those who wanted to brag about using that calculator on the boards or advertised it seemed to be frozen ( I am unsure of how many or who, as I wasn't around most of yesterday).

It is the same for any 'cheater' on the site. TNT would need to see for themselves or have a report of it.

ugh well i may have completed the 1 modifier and 2 modifier puzzles as if I were some sort of super genius, but these 3 modifier puzzles are just ridiculous.......I currently have 10 more 3 modifier puzzles to do.......none of which I have completed yet.....*headesk*
I think I might just get my brother to help me out.......but i thnk that's against the rules isnt it?

It is not against the rules to get help.

(Discussions with friends and the use of reference charts is perfectly okay.)

I know this doesn't say exactly what you want, but it comes down to the same thing - as long as you are on your computer doing the work.

It also helps if you do not go around stating that you are going to get this type of help. If you don't tell, then TNT are not going to know.

By now we should all know where TNT are coming from - do not let a programme or anyone else do it for you. Help is ok. Discussion with family/friends is ok. Using a guide or charts is ok.

alright, well ill probably do an all nighter just trying to figure out most of these puzzles......i guess ill have to give up WoW until Im completely up to date with the plot.
I'll check my guide and see what they can recommend because right now it is really truly taking me forever to solve just one puzzle........*headache*

Re: Return of Dr Sloth [Split 6]

I am beginning to think I am never going to be able to get through the 3 mod ones. That bright green on black hurts my eyes too much if I try to pick out the symbols to according to the charts (and even with the charts I have to use one where they are typed out instead of images of the symbols) . So, I have to use total brute force 1,2,3->30...2,3,4->30...3,4,5->30...etc., and pray that I don't accidentally skip any lines when dragging them to the box. I wish I had been working on it *before* TNT stated that the calculator was against the rules.
