Well, if people are refreshing every minute during the restock, then when there finally is a restock, you're going to have hundreds (cough, thousands) of people (er... and autobuyers) all trying to buy ANY items at the same time. That is going to flood the servers.
Clone, that is true in a way, and people refreshing too much is how they get restock banned. That may be a way to help keep the servers from being overloaded, same with the shop wizard - search too much, get wiz banned for an hour or so. The thing with ab'ers is they don't have to refresh. The person using one doesn't even have to be on the site. These things are somehow programmed to go after certain items, or rarity, or whatever. In many cases, from what I've seen here and on the board on the site, the ab'ers are there and grabbing items as soon as they are stocked in the shops. No haggling, no code to enter, no refresh. That's kind of the way an ab was explained to me. No matter how it works, it's nasty stuff.
The image thing they were testing (now it's back to a code?) was probably to see if in fact an ab could somehow read that image. I don't know if it would be possible, as you were asked to click on a specific pet. I'm not a techie though, I don't really understand how these things work.
