But not everyone can get it, can they? First, you need the toolbar, which not everyone or even most people have, second you have to be there when the toolbar is flashing, which not everyone will be, third, you have this absurdly limited time to get whatever it is, and finally, the toolbar has to actually function properly.

Yeah but even "crappy" Advent Calendar things are rare because not everyone that knows about them can get them all day on a certain day.
I, myself, am collecting a certain Advent item I shall not name.
It is not worth much but it is rare to find on the Wiz and popular.
Tarla's giveaway is different since it only lasts a few minutes and not "everyone" can get the prize. And those that do can only have one a day. So the best anyone can hope for is catching that one prize a day.
Pretty fair, in my opinion, no matter how much the prize is worth. I was very surprised to see a Paint Brush being given out but then again they are not available to buy in shops, and REs I think are the only way to get them, so again it seems pretty fair and a nice bonus to non-Premium users.

That was my point. If all the bugs are fixed, its available on every type of browser. (firefox users remember you're not the only one aol users dont even have an option of gettin it and neither can mac users apparently? 
) Wich you know eventualy it WILL be usable for every interface. You really dont want the change to get something to be much greater then what it is now..... heck i think more then once a day is to much.

It's not available in "every type of browser." I can't even install it on my preferred Avant. It seems to support only IE and Firefox, with bugs in the FF version (no flashing of the Alert button).

Avant is more of an add on to IE but it doesn't make sense why it won't work with it either.

Not so much an add on as a separate interface using Trident engine. It just doesn't support any toolbars I think (probably a security feature lol).
