On page 1 of the 3rd chapter, on the third installment of eating, the chef is looking down at something with a puzzled expression. At first you might think it's dishes, since he carries some away in the next window, but to me it looks like paper.

I was the one who suggested Hoban might be a female. It's in Pirates of the Caribbean, but also in many other tales that are older.

It's in Mulan :roflol:

It's definitely a possibility, though. Neopets has to have something good up thier sleeve, because they wouldn't just let the plot go this slowly without some good reward (even if it is just a good plot twist) at the end.

It's also in Pitch Black, a rare Vin Diesel movie that was actually his best in my opinion. Sci-fi but not the usual type.

I was just thinking that other "Where's Hoban" (parody of Where's Waldo) thing might really be great now.

Why doesn't TNT make that part of the inbetween-ship-docking events? Would be hilarious to see Hoban's striped hat sticking out of that poor Blue Grundo in Faerieland for instance. Who's with me? :roflol:

I am with you, but I might have to disagree about Pitch Black... I thought the sequel, Chronicles of Riddick, was better. It would be similar to the petpet thing from the Altador plot. It was half-hiding behind different objects for everyone. That thing was CUTE... I hope to get one after they award for it...

If this is a real plot, I demand a "where's hoban" bobble head as a prize. :D

Chronicles of Riddick made no sense in context. I am amazed you enjoyed the sequel more, but PM me if you care to retaliate since it is off topic.

bonju is not looking at anything in that frame cslewisloveyou look his eyes are focused on the captain. It looks like the captain just complimented bonju and bonju is saying"Oh stop" and motioning the same message with his hand. He looks embarressed not puzzled. And does anyone else think it funny that the ruki has to lift up his mustache to eat? :roflol:

Original story to female disguised as a male pirate was Anne Bonny.

Something that grabs me as suspicious is that in every comic there's a large emphasis on eating (the crew seem to be obsessed with it).

Perhaps Hoban got narky because no-one made him his favourite trifle for dinner?

I'm wondering about the whole eating bit too. It could be a joke on TNT's part but then...maybe not? It's all very suspicious I'll have to say too.

16 August is Candy Day... could that have any relationship? A day of eating... hmmm... more to ponder on... Most likely we are all overanalyzing this because it's taking so long with nothing to do...

Yeah, that would definately be the first in a pirate-context, although not the first general female-to-male disguise thing. I used to be obsessed with Anne Bonny, when I was around 12 or so.

Anyway, I don't know, Hoban could theoretically be female. The whole plot is so unclear. I really hope the next bit has something to -do- in it.

Sure, but since one of the members of the Cyodrake's Gaze "crowd" is a bright pink (and obviously female) kougra, a girl would have no reason to hide her gender. It looks to me like Hoban has some shifty map-related (and possibly treasure-related) business going on, not any of this crazy cross-dressing stuff.

Also, Hoban is named after pilot Hoban "Wash" Washburne from Firefly, and I seriously doubt TNT is going to pollute their favorite character's memory by making him a girl. :P

Tis in Faerie Land and tis flying :D and now I'm wondering where its going to go next but the new chapter is sorta boring

I don't think Hoban is female. It doesn't make sense to have his/her gender disguised. The Kougra - Linea, is female and it isn't considered "bad luck" to have her there.

The "incident" that set off Hoban, may have been that the crew were ribbing him about his navigation skills (maybe they were lost?)

The bad luck in my opinion was Hobans declaration of "Let's see you laugh when I sail you into a storm". Why would a navigator joke about sailing into a storm? I mean, besides pirates, a storm is a sailor's worst enemy.

Then, no sooner had Hoban said that, then a storm appears - very bad luck, indeed and with sailor's being superstitious, they may believe Hoban brought the storm down on them for saying what he did.

Just adding my 2 cents - I love Vin - have all his movies. Pitch Black was filmed here in Australia. It was a fantastic movie and much better in storyline than "Chronicles". :)

I really don't think Hoban is a girl, because Linae sounds like a girl's name, so there's at least one other girl (Probably the kougra). If there's one undisguised girl, why would there be a disguised one? I do think that Hoban has something to hide, though. Once we here Linae's version we'll get more insight.
