Make sure all the wheels are oriented with the cross bars vertical and horizontal - not diagonal. All the levers should point down except for the middle one in the third room. That seems to be consistently solving the puzzle for lots of folks.

Thanks, but it didn't help me. Urgh, I'm about ready to just give up. :x

Don't give up, if all else fails, do it systematically.

Room 1: SS
Room 2: SSU
Room 3: UUU, UUD, UDU, UDD, DUU, DUD, DDU, DDD

Room 1: SS
Room 2: SCU
Room 3: UUU, UUD, UDU, UDD, DUU, DUD, DDU, DDD

Room 1: SS
Room 2: CSU
Room 3: UUU, UUD, UDU, UDD, DUU, DUD, DDU, DDD

Room 1: SS
Room 2: CCU
Room 3: UUU, UUD, UDU, UDD, DUU, DUD, DDU, DDD

Room 1: SS
Room 2: SSD
Room 3: UUU, UUD, UDU, UDD, DUU, DUD, DDU, DDD

Room 1: SS
Room 2: SCD
Room 3: UUU, UUD, UDU, UDD, DUU, DUD, DDU, DDD

Room 1: SS
Room 2: CSD
Room 3: UUU, UUD, UDU, UDD, DUU, DUD, DDU, DDD

Room 1: SS
Room 2: CCD
Room 3: UUU, UUD, UDU, UDD, DUU, DUD, DDU, DDD

Those are the first 64 combinations. After that, you'll want to set the first room to SC, then CS, then CC, for the other 192 combinations. Hopefully you'll get the right combinations before then! You can also rule out some of the combinations that would cause a flood...algorithm is time-consuming, but works every time. ;)

EDIT: S means straight, C means crooked, U means up, and D means down. S and C are for wheels and U and D are for levers.

I tried every single one of the 256 cominations, and I've tried clicking randomly, and I've tried doing it systematically my own way, and I've tried clicking each lever once or until the water changes in every room and every other combination I've seen! I've been doing this for three hours! Does anyone else have another suggestion please?

I've been at this water plant business since it appeared last night, and I've still gotten absolutely nowhere. I've tried random clicking, I've tried doing it systematically, and right now, I would definitely enjoy beating my head into the wall a whole lot more. I've tried patterns that have been suggested in the thread so far, and none of them have worked for me. I'm really wondering if the pattern that you need is hidden somewhere (thinking back to the Foreman's toenails in the LDP), so I'm trying to search places for some sort of pattern. Good luck to anyone else who is still stuck with the valves and switches...I feel your frustration o_O

...I had to talk to the janitor before my stars would work...the lights were out before we found the constellation...someone should change that on the first page...or it may have been a glitch for me...am I wrong?

The janitor shouts, "HEY!! Why are the lights off?! I was having fun looking at them, all shiny and stuff... RAAARGHH!! IT REALLY MAKES ME ANGRY WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OFF!!"

Whats up with that?

Yeah, the lights were powered by the necklace, so the archivist said.

i actually got the water thing down in three clicks by following what people have been saying about all wheels being straight and the levers up except the middle one in the third room...i ddin't know i could've flooded Altador or else i would have haha.

I am certain it is random to get past the water works puzzle. Very late last night I got home and seen the Protector had been released, followed the steps provided at the beginning of this thread, and got through the door with no problem. Clicked the various dials and levers for a short while, but nothing. So then I started reading the thread to see if there was an actual pattern to solve the water works, and saw that after a while it would flood and you would start over. I figured it would be easier to start over than to figure which ones I had clicked wrong. I went into the room on the left and just alternated clicking on the two dials. After about the fifth or sixth set of just clicking on the two dials and doing nothing else, I got the "rerouted properly" page. Since I was just going back and forth between the two dials, and they were in the "winning" posistion more than once before I properly rerouted, there cannot be a certain pattern to get through this part.

To all those still struggling with the aqueducts in the water distribution plant - reset your plants every once in a while! I just got it to work, after several hours last night and four today! I had previously done the combination that saved Altador, but I think by flooding the place and resetting it, it changes the order of the switches.
Good luck to everyone who hasn't finished - I really empathize with your frustration!

Um, is it just me, or does altador only flood when *all* the levers are on? I havent seen it happen any other way.... for me, its "when you turn on too many valves *which is all of them* then it floods altador".... but i dont think theres any random combination that will flood altador...
