Actually, during some of the name free ups there were some ghosting issues. A few people would create a pet and end up with an aged petpet, supposed from the pet who was deleted and replaced. A few hiccups and weird occurances like that have happened. Personally, I'd rather be able to remove the underscore Z from my username.

And I'd just like to change my user name from dracie221 to just drac.
I'm pretty happy with my pet names... Friendly_coffee_nice, petradinia and Shpluger... although I wouldn't mind the 'p' in petradinia being capital...

It's not going to happen. Neo have said time and time again in the editorial that it won't happen because

A) Stress on the servers of millions of users changing their pets from EANESFOFOFOI to CookieMonsterIsBlue

B) Confusion to users

C) It'd involve changing the whole pet coding system to allow for things like changes to names when somebody is challenging that pet to a fight in the battledome

D) People would constantly want to change their pets names, making names available and unavailable constantly (See B for more)

E) Possible glitches that could occur (What if two people tried changing their pets names to the same thing at the same time ?), weird bugs that could occur from names being used of old pets

F) When you create or adopt the pet, you are accepting everything about that pet. If you don't want a pet with lots of numbers in it, don't adopt/create them with lots of numbers in them. You wouldn't like it if you Mum/Dad had the power to say "You know, I never really liked your name, so from now on, you're name is this..."

G) People would want the ability to change their user name after that (Repeat A-F with even more dire consequences)

G) They just don't want to do it, they've got more important things to do (Like plot prizes )

Boy we can wish? I so wish we could. It'd cause way to much confusion unfortunately, and it'd probably lag Neopets a lot. Thats why I always make my pets and not adopt them, unless they have a stellar name :3 It'd probably cause the downfall of Neopets and cause glitch-mania! e_e;

I like this idea and make it a one time only deal for The Adoption Agency. I think more pets would be adopted then too.

it would definetely increase the number of adoptions.... since you wouldnt have to worry about the name...

but then people couldnt trace them after theyve ditched them. I like to see where pets ive let go in the past have ended up. One ended up win an Okay owner, one was frozen, and another ended up with a GREAT account whos owner left over 3 years ago. Ho hum.

The only solution i could see is if the adoption agency ran off of numbers instead of names.... if each neopet in neopet had a number or code (which i wouldnt be surprsied if they allready DO) and they could search for pets by their numbers..... numbers could help tell original name, original owner, pet age, etc... either way, the pets would all have numbers so you adopt "pet #000013543-3434" and then name it what you want. That'd maybe help.

Then again, i like the agency the way it is. We dont need a name changer. If you want a pet with a specific name and a specific specie...... create one! Then id only be to get levels or limited editon/painted pets cheap.... otherwise, name change is pointless.
