I had heard that there was going to be an increase in the UB price in shops - not that having anything UB in your shop was going to be done away with. I did have a few things in my shop priced UB because they were special gifts and I didn't really want to spend the np on upgrading my gallery any more than I have to to be able to have those few things in a separate category.
Otherwise, this doesn't really affect me - the gallery I had on a secondary account I'd closed awhile back. However, there are many people who, for whatever reason, don't get to log in regularly and so may not have heard that a change was coming. My roommate I know hardly ever gets to go on the site - she's almost never home between work and caring for a sick elderly aunt. I will call her at work tomorrow and see if she can come home tomorrow night and spend the time to recreate her gallery (it's an advent gallery, I don't think she bothers with it much except during the holidays).
I'm pretty sure she'll just do a conversion (once I explain it to her), it's the time it'll take to get everything in order.
I will say this. I really think they should lower the cost for upgrading galleries, especially with this change. It does get quite expensive!

I can't find where it was mentioned, but I am sure I read that they are going to increase the limit of shops, thus doing away with the un-buyables in shops.
Looking for the source now...
Ahh yes, here it is..
Neopets Editorial 18th day of Hiding, Y7Why can't you buy a item that is labled 100,000 in a shop. I mean the prices at the trading post are cool (some of them). But i mean, if it's in the shop and we have galleries now why can't we buy it? - Hoopsgurl2010
I think we were going to change it so you could sell things for a higher price in your shop. Let me check on that one. Obviously we would give everyone lots of warning so their rare and valuable items didnt get sold for 100,000 NP

Same here. Those people are just lagging me and wasting my time to load all their unbuyable items. This way, we can save tons of time but TNT should allowed like 3 or 4 items priced higher just for the sake of showing it off...
On a sidenote, won't a unlucky few lose their rare items in their shops when they transfer over to gallery?

Of course, some of us also used 100K+ prices in shops to note that the "unbuyable" items were available for sale, if the shopper cared to contact us. Didn't require us to periodically re-post the item in the Trading Post, and didn't risk it popping back into the inventory after two weeks just in time to be eaten by a glitch/random event.
As for displaying PPTs, I'll leave mine in my main shop at 133,700 as long as I can. My plushie shop has one (that occasionally sells) for 1,337, and my odd lots shop has one for 13,370 (which has never sold, alas).

People looking for unbuyables will be able to find the items just as easily with the "search galleries" feature. You can even let them know the items are for possible sale by catagorizing them as such in your gallery. For instance, I have a catagory entitled "For Sale". I am in no hurry to sell them, so I don't use the trading post for this, and I still get just as many
serious offers.

That's good to know, and sounds useful (though the soon-to-be-former shop method allowed the items to be seen by those just browsing my shop, too) -- haven't created/converted any galleries yet.

I think TNT will Let 99,999 be the max price for a lttle while and no longer allow people to put items in the wizard for a larger price than 99,999.
Then, after everyone is used to putting thier larger priced items and gallery items in thier SDB and galleries, they will raise the max Shop wizard price.
That way no one is confused and bothering TNT with millions of e-mails about the item they lost after they put it in thier shop at a price over 99,999.
I agree. I think that TNT is setting things up so that the max price is 99999 so that people who are used to having items above 100k don't accidentally put that thyoras tear up for 123,123np, and have it be bought. Eventually, I'm sure that the max price will rise in shops (as will, I hope, the max cash offer for the TP)

I can see why they are doing it though..... im sure a good 75%+ of items in shops are priced unbuyably, so it must take up lots of room on their servers.... this will definetely free them some space!
But what they need to do NOW is refund the NP given for upgrading your shop size... im not even saying this for me, as i dont use my shop as a gallery, only to sell thigns, but im sure there are other people out there who have spend hundreds of thousands of nps, maybe even a million to upgrade their shop to hold all of their cards or plushies or petpets... which now, might not be needed at all.
Is this all taken effect right now? Are there no shops with items over 99999 now?

They should raise the shop 99k cap to the TP cap of 800k. Then raise the TP cap to a higher price (1.6-2mil?) and then auctions should be infinite if they aren't already. The 2mil cap would be sufficient for a large amount of items people are trying to sell for pure.
Wed Aug 31, 2005 4:09 pm
Auctions are already infinite.

They changed the TP cap, i believe upon other reasons, to limit the convenience of scammers trying to transfer large amounts of neopoints through a single trade. something like that, I don't see why they won't just put up a few more lots, but to each thier own.
Wed Aug 31, 2005 9:15 pm
They seriously should up the max price to something like 999,999. I think that would stimulate the neo economy because the trading post is a rather inefficent means for selling a single item (the search is only half way decent, you can't sort by price, etc).
offtopic: I haven't posted here in a long long time

Why did they announce this if they didn't put it into effect yet... I still see UBs everywhere. I can't wait until it does work though, loading a huge gallery-shop sucks when all you need is to buy is one little thing. I hope the price limit does get raised eventually, I hate using the TP. I always offer what they ask for in the wishlist and get rejected, and the trade stays up forever so I know they didn't accept something else... grr!

This is really bad for those who use their shop as a gallaery and a store. Now to do one they have to pay nps again for the other. Another brillianty stupid move by TNT>

Hopefully they'll just make any items over 99,999 in shops set back to zero. Since some people won't get the chance to change it in time, warning or no.
Also they need to change the price for upgrading. It's unreasonable having it the same as a shop.
