For Neopets ONLY discussion.

Well once neopets figures out how they did it, I hope they can do something to prevent it from happening again. You'd think after all this time their coding would be foolproof, but I guess someone out there is always going to be smart enough to get around it. Gee, you'd think they'd do something more with their life, than messing with neopets.

Well, every forest has stumps.

Everyone is saying that there is NO WAY TNT is going to roll back. But consider this, there are lots of duped items. Even when frozen, the people are likely going to make a new account and create new duped items. They probably have help, which means there are going to be thousands of duped items on the market. Does anyone expect TNT is going to be able to manually go in and remove each item on a case by case system. First they'd have to determine if the item is legit or not. And how it was obtained and all that. It would take a long time to trace each item back to it's sourse I think. I am not sure how it is done. But still, thousands of duped items sounds like a real challenge and a lot of work, when a rollback would be easier.
Everyone wonders how a rollback will help, when you are just rolling back to the glitch anyway. Wouldn't the glitch still exist if you rolled back? Yes, it would. But if you take the site down, rollback and fix the glitch while the site is down, then when it comes back up, the glitch won't exist and neither will any of the duped items. That sounds a lot better than manually checking and deleting thousands or more of duped items to me.
I don't like rollbacks, I think they are easier though.
But well, neopets is larger than ever, they have advertisers and even are owned by new people. They may not rollback because it might effect other things we have no idea about.

^That makes complete sense... I wouldn't really mind a rollback as I havn't been doing anything lately, but it would unfortunately affect a lot of other people... But I would lose the three Hissis's I just got...

I hope TNT gets this fixed, but the problem is, once they fix this glitch, these people will try to find another glitch.
I don't think any website in the world is fool proofed 100%
There are always hackers and scammers and people making programs to cheat and there always will be.
I'm thankful that I didn't buy anything this week and I feel terrible for the innocent people that DID get frozen.

its been patched

Guys, I have a question concerning rollbacks: I've been around long enough to experiance a rollback or two, but never during those times was I such an NQII adict-okay, so I never touched NQII till about one year ago, more so in the past six months. Will my NQII game be affected by a rollback?

Imagine that.

For spreading the word?!
Hope you get your account back soon.

its been patched, the cheaters used the SDB to dupe it, useing a certain browser to edit the source code - i wont give anymore info - because its useless now and there no need for it seeing none of us here are cheaters? right?

As long as it's been patched, that's good enough for me.

That means this won't happen again anytime soon, right?

Not unless tnt unpatch what they done to the sdb no, and i doubt cheaters will find another way - by the way incase your wondering tnt made it so the source code of the sdb cant be edited in any way.

No. It shouldn't be. TNT can do "rollbacks" for certain aspects of the site. It's not the whole site at once. For instance, the last rollback they did was only restore the contents of your SDB. (So if you took something out, you'd have another. If you put something in, you have lost it.)

I remember that, I think that was when I had just joined the site. I put everything I had into my SDB, and they disappeared. I had went and reported it to TNT, since I didn't really know what had happened, and they told me since I didn't remember what I had, nothing could be done to restore the items. But I was just a newbie back them, so all it was were some battlecards and a couple codestones.
