Well, it is basically a step by step guide to solving the LC.
Plus you give away the thing that makes it much easier ... I did the painful sin/cos/tan stuff to find my answer.

Sorry, I edited it, although I don't mind helping sin/cosine/tangent-challenged people people over PM with the sort-of-shortcut. You can skip that bit if you think about it carefully. There's plenty of other calculations to screw up.

To Kess,
For what my opinion is worth (probably not much since I'm so new here), I think your post is a bit too much. At least in the eyes of someone that KNEW how to do the math and sat down and did it. That problem was a bit long and tedious for me to be happy with others getting it because they were fed what they needed to find and generally how they needed to find it. One has to know a decient amount about geometry, which is the point. To get fed that is very simplifying, IMO.

Can I confirm with someone?

I think i got it! First LC in a loong time i managed to solve w/out help! hehe At least i think i did...

got a number below 200 too...

Can anyone confirm? I think I got the answer, but I'm not sure...

I just baleeted the other post. No biggie.
Err, just draw it out, you'll figure it out or you won't. Get your dad to help or something.

I did the same thing, and it took me forever to remember some of that stuff. I guess I should have kept an old math book or something. I wonder how exact they are going to want the answer because if you round off to much it can later the numbers a bit.

You didn't need it. Every line that goes through the center of a square divides that square's area by.... And a corner point in the center? No sin/cos/tan
(For a 11 year old haha... Math Olympiad stuff)

Yay, a math question within my ability and out of the ability of people who put answers on the boards (but not in guilds......GRRRRR). I would thank the math gods, but I'm not sure what they are called. The Geometree, maybe. And who could forget Dodecahydragon?

I got it. Took me 5minutes without trigonometry

My answer is also under 200. If only I had checked the LC earlier...

Got an answer. Ahh.. think it is too late

I was aware that the painful sin/cos/tan stuff was unneeded after I did it.

I'm glad you saw it beforehand. No biggie ... I had fun doing it my way.

*sigh* I hate easy LC's.
(may not be easy for some of you, but trust me, it's all math, so the only thinking you really have to do is making sure you use your numbers right)
Of course, it's my own fault if I get something bad, cuz I didn't bother to solve it until today. Oh well, at least I'll get the np!

Which will be a 2- to 3- figure sum at best.
