You can't block stuff from the site you're already at, unless you want to stop going to that site all together. :)

In Firefox, it's possible to block the flash neo ads at the top. Just add http://images.neopets.com/728ads/* to your list. The big flash ads will be gone, but not the little ones at the side.
I don't know about IE though...

I think the only way to change that is to put your country as somewhere like Antarctica or something. It doesn't show up for me any more.

Wow. I guess hopefully my list of blocking stuff is good for now...

And I guess for firefox, adding */ad/* or whatever if good too?

I've never tried that, so I'm not sure. It's worth a go though :P

I apologize if it's too late to post in this thread... but I need some help.

Quote:
With a bunch of addresses below it. Select that entire list, and hit Ctrl + C to copy all of it. Now, go back to the hosts file, and click right below "127.0.0.1 localhost". Hit Ctrl + V to paste the addresses. Add "127.0.0.1 a.tribalfusion.com" to the list. Once you're done, hit "Save."

I have tried that and it won't save. I get an error message:

hosts

Please use a different file name.

I have it on 'all files'. Should the Encoding box be set to something specific to save?

Merry Christmas!

You need to go into c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\, select the hosts file, open it's properties, and uncheck the read-only box.

Problem seems to be, however, that this method slows down neopets pages with ads on them.

You may be able to help this problem with the program here. It acts as a server to your own computer and serves your browser a tiny gif image so it thinks it got the ad it was looking for and doesn't waste time waiting around before it realizes it's not going to get the ad.

Thanks.

My problem now with the ads is pages are taking forever to load. I wasn't even going to worry about doing all this stuff... but it's driving me crazy. I'm also sick of the popups and Activex wanting to install stuff. grrr.

I use firefox for nearly everything (am on it now), but I still gotta use IE for the things firefox doesn't support.

Merry Christmas!

Will Adblock also work with Netscape? I think it would considering Firefox and Netscape are very similar (and Netscape is often referred to as Mozilla on those things that tell you which browser you're using and such).

Yes, Adblock does indeed work with Netscape. I have Netscape 7.0, which is based on the Mozilla engine. When I downloaded the Adblock extension, it attached itself effortlessly onto my Netscape. Works like a charm! :)

Looking to buy Snowbunny Stamp and Sticky Snowflake Stamp. If you're selling, please PM me!

What bgryph is describing should work.

(I use a small program of my own to give 404 responses to those requests -- works for me)

ah well I'm sure I can live without :)

has anybody noticed this ad - http://rightmedia.net/1/993/kiss_4.swf

I think it's very inappropriate for a site like neopets and they are being very hypocritical...

That did happen to me before. Go into your adblock and see if you have blocked http://images.neopets.com/n.js -- if you have, unblock it, because that's the clock.

I was given this text file from a friend I know over mIRC when I was having problems as far as Neopets, Sheezyart and Deviantart.

http://www.geocities.com/queenmagica/adblock.txt

What you do is save the txt file into whatever directory (Just in case save it in the Firefox folder in you might need to reload it). Right click on the link and select "Save As." If you want you can edit out or ad content.

Then in your Firefox window go to Tools -> Adblock -> Preferences -> Adblock Options -> Import Filters. Find the directory that you save the TXT file in then open it. It'll overwrite what you have saved right now but will have an extended list of adblocks.

Credit to ShadowRage (He's anti-Neopets, which is why he gave me the adblock list in the first place)

EDIT: If Geocities says that it's unavailable, then my bandwith has been maxed, so I'd wait a while if you need to.
