I use firefox at work to restock, and it works just fine, especially once I start adblocking things left and right.

I suggest going here to learn how to configure firefox/mozilla. The exact buttons aren't the same, but once you figure out what preferences tab is where, you're doing the exact same thing:

Alright, well, this does require Firefox...but I have good news. I found a way to block the advertisements AND all that blank white space at the top. Follow these instructions carefully.

Step 1: If you don't have Firefox already, get it here. Configure it, etc.
Step 2: Download these 2 extensions in Firefox after installing the browser -
AdBlock 0.5.2
ChromEdit
Step 3: Restart Firefox, then click on Tools - Adblock - Preferences
Step 4: Add 3 new filters:
http://images.neopets.com/buttons/*
http://images.neopets.com/728ads/*
http://images.neopets.com/ads/*
Click Add button to save them. Then click done.
Step 5: Go to Tools - Edit User Files, then click on the userContent.css tab.
Step 6: Scroll all the way to the end, then enter a new line:
#ban { display: none !important; }
Click the Save button.
Step 7: Restart Firefox and enjoy an ad-free NeoPets experience

<3 Thank you!! I had them blocked, but still had the space at the top. :D

Alright I'm going to try out Firefox. You guys talk about blocking ads and I'm getting jealous, and frustrated so I'm going to give it a shot. :P

Thanks for that website Shapu! I needed something like that to help me. :)

Thank you so much for posting those instructions, Xiser! I am now enjoying a blissfully ad-free neo experience. :)

Sat Feb 12, 2005 5:24 pm

I managed to get rid of the top ad, but the bottom one is still there. I must have messed something up when I was following the instructions. :(

Edit: I think I'm starting to figure it out. ^_^ I really like firefox so far. :)

I've never seen them in IE or Firefox - whatever I had set up before blocks this too. I got a full HOSTS file to block the ads and used the css someone posted here a while back for IE. Firefox's adblock works great.

BUT nothing happens most of the time when I click a link now -.- If I click it repeatedly it will finally work. Are these ads slow loading and do they load before Neopets content? Is that why I'm having a hard time navigating the site?

I loooooooove Neopets. I play every day. Last night and today it is soooooooo frustrating not being able to click on a link and be taken to the page I want, that I give up.

Bleh!

Someone said there is an ad for male enhancement? What the heck? Who saw it?

'Cause if there is, you should report it to Adam.

And guys, don't be so hard on TNT.

Excuse me?
Don't be hard on them?
Normally i'm all for not picking on them, but there is a line, and they've crossed it. The adds have more then likely been reported, but they have yet to stop.
This is a childrens site. Adds like this are COMPLETELY inappropriate. Considering that TNT has tried to shut down various fan sites for simmilar adds such as this, I don't think it's fair that they run them themselves.
They deserve to be picked on right now. They deserve to hear what the members here, and what the players of the site have to say to them about these adds.
They need a good kick in the keister right now for what they're doing.

Edit: And I think you should note that PPT is a SAFE PLACE where people can complain if they want too. Not everything in Neopets runs smoothly, and here on PPT, it's a safe place for people to complain on. No one should be told to stop by other members unless whats being said is unfair, and on that note, if you feel whats being said is innapropriate, rather then saying it yourself, it's always wise to PM a mod about it and verse your feelings that way, rather then telling a whole thread to stop.

I think that right now, after reading both threads, there is only one word that I can find to sum this all up.

Pathetic.

I can MAYBE understand the need for more ads (I don't like it, but I can understand why they would want to have more ad space), but what I don't understand are the ads themselves. Can't someone go through the ads before they're put up on the site?

Ugh. I just got Mozilla... And I signed the petition.

The ads are an attampt to suck all the fun out Neopets. ENT has gone too far. With the top banners, everyone was all, "Well... Ok.. I guess, it'll be okay." They even gave us an avatar! Now, this, is slowing down my computer, and making it take nearly a minute to load any page. Recently, I've barely been playing.. So, I've logged in, scrolled down to the bottom, and was greeted with the freakin' big ad. Now, I'm 12, and I was shocked to see some of the ads that they have on there.. Ones that you see at sites that are cheaply made. Not sites that have as many users as Neopets has. They're going to let me see an ad that says, 'Who will get pregnant first', but they won't let me play Dice-a-roo? This has gone too far. Looks like I'munna be spending more time on Furcadia, Gaia, and Powerpets. Meh, flippin' ENT.

Thank you to everyone who has signed so far. It's only been up a few hours, and already we have 26 signatures! Hopefully I can get one of my friends on staff to give me an email to send it to when we're done. I'm going to work on banners to spread the word, and ask a few people about putting links on their sites.
