Oh Minion, My Minion: A Guide For Fighting In The War

Written by: Chao

Hi, I’m Chao, and you may or may not know me from PPT. I’m here to talk to you about some strategies for the current war, give you some tips on weapons, and generally help you do well in the war.

Before you continue, let me inform you of a couple of things:

  1. Buying weapons in times of war is going to cost you a pretty penny.

  2. This guide is simply meant to help you, not to show you every single thing to do to be a good battler.

  3. This guide is meant for Low to Mid-Level Battledomers.

Ready for some tips? Here you go!

Abilities:

As always, I recommend Sink, Burrow, and Drain Life. Some others you might want to use are Fiery Gaze, or Diamond, which both have a chance of freezing your opponent.

Also, the strength of an ability has no effect on what it does, to my knowledge. Using Drain Life on Strong, Or Weak would yield the same results.

For Species Abilities, I use these when I know that attacking on Fierce or Berserk would destroy both my opponent and me. Getting 1.4x the damage will not do you any good if it forces you into a draw. (For those of you who aren’t BD savvy, attacking with Fierce, 140% of your normal attack will also give your opponent the 140% bonus. It is a double-edged sword in some cases.)

Point-Making Strategy:

If your pet isn’t very strong, meaning that, in my opinion, you don’t have the 85 boost, you have less than 100 HP, and only decent weapons, then you’re probably going to be confined to the Skeletal Minions, the Skeletal Soldiers, and the Bori Miners. You mindlessly attack these guys for a while, but then a little planning comes in to play.

I usually just attack with two weapons, and use Life Drain on them first turn, because their HP climbs higher as time goes on. I then use Burrow and my two weapons again. I finish off by Fiercely Attacking, because by that point my opponent is usually so much lower in HP that I can finish them off. That’s not much of a strategy, but it seems to work fine.

Weapon Selection:

First and foremost, here’s what NOT to use.

Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT use light against any of the opponents other than the Minions and Soldiers. The Miner will block them. Other High-end challengers seem to reflect them. As much as I love my Pumpkin Stick, you cannot afford to have your attack fully blocked, and/or partially reflected. Stay away from light if you plan on fighting the opponents in this war, other than the Skeletal Minion and Skeletal Soldier.

As for defense, there’s always the good ol' standard Leaf Shield. It will block the water and earth of the Snowballs used by the Challengers, and the Water from the Challengers weapons. Not being a defensive battler myself, there are no other defense strategies I can offer you.

Offensive weapons? My suggestion would be a Lost Desert Dagger, along with a Scarab Slingshot. They are both cheap and useful. Some other weapons to consider are Caustic Potion, Mud Mixture, Purple Blob Potion, and Illusions Earth Potion. The first two are nice because they can heal 1-5 HP, which isn’t bad when you’re also getting an attack in. The Brain Mace is also a good buy, but it has inflated somewhat due to the War. NQ2 prizes are a big help if you got them from playing the game, but if you want to buy them from other users, the prices have jumped up considerably. Also, beware of the 5 light icons on Ramtors Spell book when fighting harder opponents.

For healing, I would suggest a Slime Potion, A Red Scorchstone, Blue Scorchstone, or Green Scorchstone. For important battles you may also want to consider using a Lucky Robot’s Foot.

As for Freezing, The Scroll of Freezing is probably your best bet, although it will eventually break. H4000 Helmets are always a good buy, but they are steadily rising, and cost around 4 million right now. Other options are a Black Frost Cannon, which freezes about 24% of the time, Or a Rainbow Frost Cannon, which has comparable stats. Also, you could try Ice Dice, though it comes at a high price, 11 Million or so. You could also use a Slumberberry Potion, which does damage and has a 1 in 6 chance to freeze.

That about wraps up this short article. I hope reading this helps you in your fight somehow.
