Is it just me or is the first measure of this sheet music a physical imposability.

i mean they want you to play one note with two hands at the same time. Impossible.

It's quite possible. Let go of the G with your left hand and hit it with your right hand. It's basically telling you to sustain the note for as long as you can within the measure, while hitting it a second time.
