How much defence do you need to have the max effect?

Just keep your defence level even with your other stats.

Ummm... a whole lot, I think that you have to have the one in the 200 range. I am usually wrong with BD info though, soory :(

Ugh... it's true that you should keep your defense even with your other stats, but it really depends on your opponents strength boost range compared with your defense boost range. If your opponent's strength boost > your defense boost, the defence will be minimum. If your opponent's strength boost = your defense boost, the defence will be standard. And if your opponent's strength boost < your defense boost, the defence will be maximum.

Ohh.. my defence is really low so the shield always defends minimum. There should be a better alternative

If you don't train defence downsize! and reflectors can work well.

I do not train my defense, unless I get a quest. I also do not use defensive weapons that often and I do good in battles

You don't have to train defence to do well in the dome. People have different strategies.
