Hear Hear

I used to listen and even used to be involved, but the recent ones have no interest to me - the ones i listened to didn't flow well and didn't seem to be as much about neopets as a "clique" chatting.

Podcasts I think are a niche market. Not everyone listens to them.

Seems like most the listeners come from the main site itself.

On the contrar, I think the current host lineup is doing very well. Everyone on the current team has got the hosting down to a pat and conversation is flowing very easy... so easy in fact that I don't ever need to edit the conversation anymore. I just whack on the music and bam... upload. Easy as pie.

*nods* What they said. I've no interest in Neopets anymore so I wouldn't bother listening to the podcasts which means I don't want constant referances to it in places like Misc. Disc., etc. It's becoming a big spam fest frankly because if you don't listen to the podcasts or play Neopets, a lot of threads seem complete nonsense.

Sorry :( Was a joke.

Kym, how exactly do you plan on punishing people? @_@ *wonders*

I realise you may all think it's a joke but it doesn't stop the fact that you guys have been doing this, and there's a lot of us who don't understand what you guys are on about.

I completely agree with what Twinkle has said. There's a lot of older members who have come to the site when they played Neopets, years ago, but who have now stopped - and stay on the forums for other boards and people. There's absolutely no reason for them to listen to the podcast, so they're inundated with references they don't get, and quite frankly there's a lot of threads that are beginning to border on spam.

Again - I realise you may all think it's a big joke, but I'm someone who, if someone tries to get me to do something against my wishes, I almost always refuse simply on principle. And at the moment - as someone who was even involved in one of the very early ones, that's the way I'm viewing podcasts currently. I don't want to listen to podcasts - I mean for one reason, I don't even have the time or really the capacity to listen to them - and quite frankly the way things have been going, I'm refusing to listen on principle.

Apologies for the bluntness.

Thank you, Alex. I know a lot of people around here have been wanting to say that but didn't have the nerve to put it right out there.

Now, I still play Neopets (I'm not even as old as some people here), but I don't like any of this ghost-cod business at all. Seriously guys, it's just annoying.

I'm sorry that some of the actions of the podcasters has upset the members of the forums. We will steer away from things that Byakuya San mentioned along with other members on this thread. Speaking for myself here I did not know our comments annoyed many of you and I apologize for my own actions.

I think tensions are getting a little strained here. Yes, the cod-fights and such are a irritating, but we were all at the age once where internet food fights were fun. Inside jokes happen. It used to bug me when games from Coconut Isle would spill over to other boards(like having to include "I love Jas" in twelve posts or whatever), but I got used to it because it wasn't like a constant thing. The occasional joke referencing the podcast isn't an issue--after all, there are a few times when oldbies make inside jokes that make no sense to me--but back-and-forth food fights or inside jokes shouldn't disrupt threads.
No one's going to eat you for being a bit spammy(we've all blunted our teeth on the indestructible Kym), but...what's that saying? Like unwelcome visitors, fish(even weapons-grade cod) starts to smell after three days.

I do listen to the show and think it's really great. It's entertaining at the least. :)

EDIT:

After reading through all the posts in this topic, I have a little something to say myself.

First off, I really appreciate the podcasts. I do have the time for them and enjoy hearing about current Neopets activities and the viewpoints of other players on those things. (It's also a comfort to hear a couple of college students who still play...;))

Secondly, I have no problem with the inside joking or anything like that. The only criticism I would give is that sometimes the rabbit trails go a little long. Also, sometimes when a topic is presented, none of the hosts have actually participated and, thus, have no opinion (like a new game or the boards or other new things).

Finally, I think it's great that people from so many different places at many different ages can have this one commonality and pull off a great show. You guys really do a great job. Keep going. I'm looking forward to episode #50 :D

Nope, don't listen to the podcasts. I prefer the plain ol' forums, not anything extra. :p

And me too. I really only realised that it was annoying you until I was reminded in a PM. I did think it was a joke but then I realise it was being taken too far. I can see now how it must have annoyed you because of the repeating content of the jokes and because many of you did not understand what we were refering to or talking about. Again, I am truly sorry. :(

Yep.

I will admit that I only got into it about three weeks ago though.

After reading everyones posts i can understand why most people dont listen to the podcast, aswell as why other forums member becoming irritated over the constant mention of cod, trust me the cod is irritating me too.....
As a host of the show myself, I try to steer clear from mentioning subjects from the podcast on the forum, unless said subject is a thread on the forums.

As for most of the hosts not being able to participate in a presented topic, such as a new game, we only ever find out that we have to play said game until the time of the recording. Which is why I end up never being able to give criticism on the the new game, simply because my internet is not the best of best aswell as with my own personal ethics of trying not to disturb the recording itself by playing the game.

Now, for anyone who doesnt listen to the podcast, I am not trying to force you into listening to it, or even convince you for that matter, but what I will say is that many of the hosts who are on the show are completely dedicated. Many of them, such as myself spending incredibly late nights waiting for the shows to be recorded and i think that we at least deserve some form of appreciation for that alone. We all work very hard on the podcast, and trust me we have some great people as hosts aswell as here on the forums. I think that if you don't listen to the podcast then that is your own choice, but I really do want to commend all our hosts for working so hard and being so dedicated.

I personally haven't seen references to stuff from the show, but Im not on the forums that much. Although I agree it must be annoying reading all these references, it would be the same as two people that know each other outside the forums talking about something that happened at school/work whatever. Im not saying it is ok to constantly bombard topics with references people don't get, but the hosts to spend alot of time doing the podcast. And they are alot of fun, and references are used alot during random chats us hosts have.

So all you hosts reading, try and lay off the references (save them for our chats on skype) and all you people saying it's annoying, thanks for saying it. All you have to do is say something is annoying and it's instantly stopped! Sometime we don't realise what we are doing.

Is there anyway y'all could get a list of the topics that will be presented before the show, so you can be prepared? I just think as a Neopets podcast, it'd be cool to get an impression of what the hosts think.
