You appear to misunderstand what I mean by 'hit and miss'. I'm not referring to their album or single sales, I'm relating to the quality of output produced by the band, which is inconsistent.

The Spice Girls still made rubbish songs with awful lyrics and had voices ranging from mediocre to crap. They just caught the hearts of young girls across the globe with a well crafted gimmick.

Oh to still have some naivety about the music industry..

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but are you talking about the quality of their music?

If so, as I said before, many singles have been picked up and become popular. I'm not basing this on the sales of the singles, or their album sales, I'm basing this on the opinion on others. And believe it or not, not just my opinion.

If most of their singles have become popular among many age groups, doesn't this mean the quality of the band's music have been consistent? I agree, a few singles were a disaster but that doesn't mean the band has been inconsistent with their music. If that's true, many bands/artists suffer the same inconsistencies.

All bands/artists are inconsistent. Or the majority of them anyway.
