The question is not is X, Y, Z healthy, but do I and my alloted 70 years care enough to worry?

I don't, I'll either die or become all powerful (No middle ground here) and either way it makes abso-friggin-lutely no difference in the long run.

I think that when people hear radiation they automaticaly think of same type of radiation that you get from nuclear power plants or nuclear bombs. But the radiation that your microwave emits is different. Its just like visible light, infrared, radio waves, low frequency RF and static fields, and I think its called non-ionizing or something like that.

Im pretty sure cordless phones, motion detectors, radar and Wi-Fi all use microwave radiation, not just your microwave oven.

Microwave radiation does not have enough energy to destabalize atoms. Basicaly it only has enough energy to excite molecules. When you stick your food in the microwave, the radiation excites the water molecules causing heat, and your food to cook. yay!

So in short, I think you are pretty safe unless you crawl into a giant microwave and turn it on.

I agree, but it's just something that there isn't too much evidence on and people tend to fret about. For example, there is much controversy with cellphones and whether they affect your health. I personally feel I'd like to tend to be safer than sorry with these things, so I usually follow the 1-m away from the microwave rule. I'm not sure if how many people know this, but you can actually hard-boil an egg by putting it between two mobile phones. Mobile Cooking

Probably your friends are getting worked up over nothing, but this is one subject where you want to resist sweeping pronouncements. On its face, antimicrowave propaganda (you'll find loads of it on the Web) is none too persuasive--some of these people have yet to comprehend the crucial distinction between ionizing and nonionizing radiation. (Ionizing radiation is the nuclear, i.e., dangerous, kind, which includes X rays, gamma rays, etc; nonionizing is everything else, e.g., microwaves, not to mention light.) When you dig into the research, though, you realize the controversy isn't all hooey. On the contrary, what we've got here is one of the great coal-mine fires of science--an argument that, in this case, has been smoldering for 50 years without resolution. Unexpected recent developments, though, make me think we may get to the bottom of this pup yet.

As to plastics leaching chemicals, they'll do it regardless of whether you nuke them. The plastic bottle you drink out of? Leaching chemicals into the liquid. All of this stuff is basically propaganda scare tactics to make you nervous about stuff whoever's writing or reporting about it doesn't know anything more than we do. True scientific research is still trying to find out what and if there is any danger to plastics or microwaves causing diseases. Both plastics and microwaves have been around long enough that any kind of distinct or definite threat from normal use ought to have shown up in the general population by now.

Hogwash. Humans are not 97% water, free radicals are not produced in microwaves (nor do they necessarily cause cancer), and if the Soviet Union did indeed ban microwaves in 1976, I cannot find one reliable source that tells me so. She may be an MD, but she's no researcher.
