Anything and everything goes in here... within reason.

I rather not live right under one, but technically the plans fly over pretty much all of Wellington.

I wouldn't be able to. The sound would drive me insane.
a while ago I stayed in a place near an airport, and it would be just as I was drifting of to sleep that a plane would go overhead and wake me up. =(

I've always lived either on or right by a Navy base, so I'm used to planes flying over my house.
The only thing that gets me are the Blue Angels when they fly low on Practice days, my entire house shakes! No sleeping through that.

i wouldnt mind living at all near an airport. I love planes and air shows, I think they're brilliant. But I will say that the noise will be annoying after a while. I might need ear plugs or something.

I wouldn't like it at all. Airplanes usually generate a lot of noise, and it would just get annoying at night when I try to sleep.

I've lived on Air Force bases with test planes...and I've lived near airports. No biggy.

That's way to close! We have fighters for D.C. fly over and thats loud enough.

Agreed! I want to be a pilot, but I'm too dang short. And never going to grow very much anymore, not enough, anyway. I think in time you'd probably get used to the planes, really. First while or so's going to be terrible.

Actually, I do. I live near a small private airport as part of the fly-in community there.
Infact, in the three different houses I've lived in (in) South Carolina, we've been in Greenville-Spartanburg's flightpath. I've grown used to it.

I guess that I am a lighter sleeper than the others in the thread who don't mind the noise. I stayed near busy roads in all three places that I lived when I was younger, and I never got used to the traffic noise, so I can imagine that for me it would be the same as living near an airport. Besides I am naturally nervous, and I'd always be wondering about something crashing.
On the other hand, I stayed in Virginia for a week in a nice hotel that had a view of airport arrivals, not near enough to be annoying, but I could sit on the balcony and watch the planes line up for landing. It was fascinating, for the week, anyway.

Definitely! I love aeroplanes. I see a lot of them seeing as there's a flight path above us, but they're already quite high by the time they fly over. It would be nifty if they were really low. That picture you posted gives me goosebumps. It's so incredibly cool.

I wouldn't ever want to live near an airport. I need silence!

Although I do like the occasional noise of an airplane, I think having the noise all of the time would drive me crazy. So no, probably not.

For me, the noise is less of a factor than the area. I wouldn't want to live in an area like that, out in the middle of all the big business. It would feel lonely. Almost like living in the country, with little to no activity around me. It sounds like a huge contrast, but the thing is, I wouldn't want to live in either of those places, for pretty much the same reasons. I'm fine with my suburbs, and I'd be good with a little more downtown-ish, but not something big and busy and scary. I feel kind of lonely when I'm out in the middle of all that, maybe it's less cozy or something, I dunno.
I'm not sure I'd have problems with the noise though. But who knows, cause I've never experienced it for myself.
If it sounds like I was rambling on and saying the same things over again, sorry, I'm tired.

I actually live quite close to an airport...and up until about a year ago, i was always scared to DEATH! I mean, i don't mind planes, but i live so close, they'll be getting ready to land and REALLY REALLY REALLY low by the time they're over my house and eugh -shudder- Really scary. I Have bad depth perception, lol. Really bad....
