Activation Emails Not Sending

#1 Post by Chivewarrior »

Before racking my brains to remember my old username/password for this I attempted simply creating a new account and the activation email flatly refused to appear even in my spam folder.

Thanks for letting me know. I will look into this.

P.S. Welcome back! :)

Update: Looks like you used a Gmail account to (re)sign up. Digging a little deeper, there is a current reverse DNS issue on our server... as a result, Gmail discards all incoming emails from pinkpt - no junk, no bounce, no nothing. This is a semi-recent issue after Google made some email policy changes...

Until I can get that resolved, I will put a note on the sign-up page to not use gmail at this time... In theory, I will update this thread when that issue is resolved, but it may take some time.

Thanks again.

Update2: Confirmed with my own gmail account that the emails will not go through. However, I sent an activation email to my other email account and it went through just fine. It is very possible that other email services may not accept them, but gmail is the only one I know of so far. I added a note to the registration page to not use gmail (at this time) until I can get the primary issue resolved.

Note that I can manually activate accounts, so if gmail is your only option, go ahead and do the sign-up with your gmail account, and then send me an email from your gmail account that you signed up and can only use a gmail account and we can go from there. Send the emails to my user name at this domain (pinkpt.com). Also note that if you do use gmail, you will not get PM notifications, subscribed thread post notifications, etc. until the gmail issue is resolved.

Update3: Also added a warning to the user control panel in the email change area. You will also not get the confirmation of email change and your account may be in limbo. (Untested, but likely). I did see accounts that had > 10 posts with recent email changes to a gmail account... I manually reactivated each of them
