What strange phobias have you had that just seem a little too strange?
When I was about seven years old I was in my mom's room. I looked at the digital clock and the the number 9 appeared on there. I jumped out of skin and was really scared because for some reason I thought that the number 9 was an evil number. The way it looked just really scared me. I found it an odd number one that you should never cross if you knew what was good for you. I figured I thought it was evil probably because 9 o clock was bed time for me and I didn't like going to bed at that age
It passed when I actually reached nine years old though. Don't know what I'd have done if I still had the phobia when I was nine
So share you weird and just plain crazy phobias here.
"I am a sly cat, I am a summer wind, I am birds in flight, I am the sun, I am the sea, I am me!"
When I was younger I was absolutely petrified of smoke alarms. I couldn't even go under the one we had at home without running - I was convinced it was evil in some way... To this day I'm not sure why - I guess it was the fact they go 'bleep' every now and again when the battery is flat, and I could never stand things that made noises at random. I was always really jumpy - had to run across the level crossing in case it started to close when I was in the middle, I didn't like the boiler at home because that used to start up at random too. Blimey.
Slugs. I am petrified of going near, seeing (pictures are fine, completely - it's just the real live thing I can't stand), standing on, or even salting slugs. Totally irrational as unlike the other creature I am scared of - spiders- slugs do not posses the ability to chase me across the room, jump on my face and suck my brains out. Spiders do.
Also celery. I don't just hate the taste of it, but the smell, sight and sound of it. My stomach cramps at the sight or smell of it and I get shudders :/
But slugs are worse, ick. Not as strange as smoke alarms though, heh!
I used to hate going into public bathrooms by myself. I was always scared that when I flushed the toilet and opened the door there would be some freaky person standing there, and the humming noise didn't help. I still have to open the door before I flush the toilet. I also used to be scared of a portrait of some dead relative next to the computer. I was about 7 or 8, and I was scared it would wiggle it's ears at me.
I'm afraid of being alone in like a pool. I can swim (I won first place regional breast stroke) but I can't be in a pool alone... it scares the crap out of me.
I'm also afraid of multiple "clicking" noises. Like in "bicentennial man" when they walk through that room with a a bunch of clocks, I start freaking out, and almost pass out.
Probably because I was a manic clockmaker in my past life

Me too! Liek my pool isn't even that deep and I'm afraid an evil clown is gonna jump up and get me from underneath the water.
I guess thats my weirdest one...
My common ones are the dark and looking dolls straight in the face, creeps the heck out of me.,
I'm scared of touching/rubbing pizza boxes and other such cardboard materials. It used to be just a pet peeve when people would rub it, but lately it's been turning into a phobia. O___O;;
In art class we were working on REALLY thick paper, paper that was probably meant for watercolors or acrylics or I'm-not-sure-what. So I wanted to blend some of the shading and I started to rub it with my finger and suddenly I flipped out, shuddered and shoved the paper away really lightning fast. The paper had the same feeling to it like when you rub a pizza box or cardboard really fast. Geez, everyone at my art table went, "What was THAT!?" They knew about my little pet peeve, but right then and there it turning into a phobia.
Chinese people tend to like to eat stuff inside the body and that means: liver, kidney, heart, BRAIN, white squidgy things...etc etc etc. I am terrified of eating anything inside the body except for the flesh. I refuse to eat any of it. No idea why though... it happened once when my mum tried to make me eat pig's liver...and before my science exam i was forced to eat FISH BRAINS. And a tip here: if you're going to eat brains, whatever you do, DON'T poke them. Something unexpected might pop out.
I'm scared of the sound rubbing balloons make...and popping balloons. And I have displeasure of looking at the lotus (you know, the one with seeds and such...) not sure why. Anything that has holes or filled holes like that I get a shiver down my spine.
And I'm afraid of the dark. It happened when my grandmother died--that's when I started to become afraid of the dark.
>.> I'm sure I have more though.
memories of yesterday; because you've left me at the beginning
I'm perfectly fine in pools and all, but with fish... It's probably because when I was younger I went to this summer camp where we were forced to take swimming lessons and I got bit by a snake and almost died. :S
I'm also afraid of public restrooms since seeing that one movie where he's in the stall and the killer stabs him with the knife through the side. x_x
