Hannah attempts to activate the Heart of the Mountain.
The Heart of the Mountain is a large magical jewel which resides under Terror Mountain. The warmth the gem provided kept the Bori alive through centuries of hibernation. Once united with the keystone, the magic of the gem freed the Bori from their icy entombment.
Plot summary

When Hannah had the necklace, Armin and Kanrik kept the enemies away from Hannah so she could get to the Heart of the Mountain. She united the necklace and the Heart of the Mountain thus freezing the Bringer of Night. Using his slingshot, Armin hit him with a rock and the Bringer of Night was defeated.
