It is not a problem to all of the 13+ users that lurk around here. But, it is for me. In my situation, I am 11, so I have gotten parental permission to play the whole site. But, even with the permission form, I cannot play the 'gambling' games that were taken from users under 13. I am a little dissapointed, because now until further notice on how to activate those games, I cannot play the games taken away without making a new account. It really bugs me, because now I cannot get the"Lucky Streak" avatar from bigle dice. I guess they are right with a limitation, but I am dissapointed on how I get permission to play the whole site, but not the newly taken away games. Oh well, correct me if I am wrong on anything, and move or lock this if it is in the wrong place. Thanks. Please comment.

When I signed up for Neopets, I was older than 13 - but I remember myself at that age (and at age 11) - and I remember being very mature. It's a shame that now you'll be limited in the games you are able to access. Especially since it seems to have been triggered by gambling regulations in Australia: why should all users be restricted?

I'm sure that many players under 13 could handle the "gambling" games that they locked, you know?

I guess they really just want to keep the site as friendly to kids as possible (though that Coconut Shy Quiggle is enough to give an adult nightmares!). 13 is the cutoff age online: I've noticed that many sites ask if you're over 13. In this case, it was a convenient way for them to appease parents who were worried about what their kids may get into on Neo.

It's too bad it affects even those whose parents don't care!
...If you do start a new account and pick a different age, pick a different name also. Neo does look into multiple accounts - but they won't care if it looks like an older sibling of yours.

I'm 10 but I signed in as 18-27 many years ago. WhenI was 5, I think. Yeah! And I keep on doing that every time I make a new account. I'm glad I wasn't honest.

I think that people under 13 should be allowed to have their parents sign a release, like the one that allows them access to Neoboards. That way responsible children are not prohibited from accessing games, and the ability to get avatars.

I am so sorry that you have to wait two years to play the games. If it makes you feel better, I will probably still be trying for Lucky Streak then.

I'm pretty sure this is because 14 is the "cut-off age" for the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. And any site that caters to children (especially Neopets) has to be COPPA-compliant or they get in big trouble.

Anyway, I think this might be a good thing for those parents who really want to regulate what their kids can do online. But I also agree that users under 13 should be able to access the gambling games with parental permission. Hopefully TNT will implement that.

See, but this just tops everything off. We can't put messages in trades w/o permission. We can't GIVE ITEMS TO PEOPLE without permission. We can't edit shop descriptions. It's horrible. I'm glad I turn 13 in two months.

Anyhoo, I foun this about a week ago, I found a problem with round table poker (you can probably find the thread in games) before we decided that it was killed for the under 13. Xalaxracer also talked about it in the screenies thread.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a good idea? This will keep the complaints about Neopets being a gambling site down to a dull roar because once you are over 13, you should be mature enough to make decent decisions.

However, there should be a parental permission form allowing them to play the luck/chance games on Neopets.

The thing is, my mom won't take the time to fill out the form. I come on neo every day. I am an avid trophy and avatar collector, even if I can't use them, and I have recently lost out on the dice-a-roo avatar and the round table poker trophy. I don't get it.. I think the 13 and under rule is blasphemy. And so is the no trade messages rule. Even if we are gambling, we often lose neopoints and learn the danger of it. All because of a bad article.

OR have the current form apply to the luck/chance games...and also, do the WoE, WoK, WoM count as "gambling" games?

Thankfully, none of the dailies for me, except dice a roo, count as a gambling game.

Perhaps you can keep annoying your mother to fill a form. And I don't understand the trade message thing. You're not allowed to trade if your under 13?
