GIMP Tutorials

#1 Post by May »

So I've finally been able to install GIMP on my computer, and while I'm not particularly fond of it so far, I'm willing to give it a try further. But I'm looking for some really good introductory (beginner) to intermediate tutorials. If anyone could suggest some, I would really appreciate it :)

When I lost my old computer, I lost my only copy of Photoshop, so I went for a few months without it until I could afford to buy a new copy. I tried GIMP, but just couldn't get the hang of it. It's very different from photoshop, to the point where I didn't even make any graphics until after my new copy arrived. This is what I used to get by: http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/ It's got everything, beginners, intermediates and experts.

Gimptalk.com has some good ones too. They're mostly for signature making (assuming that's what you're using GIMP for), but I think you might be able to find a few tutorials about basics and rendering and the like.

The GIMP is really hard to use, even if you're used to Photoshop/PSP/et cetera.
GIMP.org has some as well.

I must note, every time I see your signature I want to cuddle it. I love it so much, I love that show so much, why must everything I love get canceled =(

Aww, there there. There's still hope for a movie.

By the way DM, unspecialfish already linked to that exact site. :P

There is a Gimp variant called GIMPShop, which makes it look/act closer to Photoshop. http://www.gimpshop.com/
