Has anyone noticed?

Sat Dec 04, 2004 1:33 pm

The entire shop wiz line has changed. Instead of being divided into 8 sections according to the alphabet, it is divided in some other way--that I can't quite figure out. The y's and l' are now together, w's are with j's, f's with s's. In other words, no letter is with the same letter it used to be with.

I can't quite figure it out, but why did they? Did they find it unfair to players with like, "q" in their name?

Sat Dec 04, 2004 2:35 pm

I never even noticed that! I wonder why they did it...strange.

Sat Dec 04, 2004 2:43 pm

I get it..

Z is with M
Y is with L
X is with K
W is with J
V is with I
U is with H
T is with G
S is with F

etc. ect.
See how it works?

Now maybe it's in 13 sections.

I'm wondering if they did some reconfigureing to even things out? Remember how the group with S's used to be the cheapest usually, and the F group was the highest priced? Well, now they are together. That's the only thing that struck me, being I'm in the F group.

EDIT: Wait, that can't be the case. I just noticed the S's now come up with C and K. It's random. o_O This is gonna make for some interesting pricing of shop inventory. I imagine it will probably deflate values of stuff since you don't have a set group to price according to. If your one of those who likes to be the lowest on the wiz, your gonna have to set it to an average low rather than your group's low.

After doing a fair amount of refreshing, here is the theory I have come up.
Most likely the databases that held each of the 8 divisions were getting too huge, so they divided them into at least 13 new sections. Still alphabetical:

a and n
b and o
c and p
d and q
e and r
f and s
g and t
h and u
i and v
j and w
k, x and all of names that start with an underscore
l and y
m and z

I haven't seen any line with the users that start with numbers, yet--possibly they are putting them into another line.

And, the reason why it seems random right now is that there are still some lines with the old groupings hanging around. I saw one for j, r, b and one for e, m. Maybe they are in the process of moving these?

This will be quite interesting to see how it shakes out--particularly for us who resell "for a living." It is going to be a bit of a pain trying to figure out the prices of things, particularly an expensive item, because we will now have to look at 13 or 14 lines rather than the usual 8. But, it does seem a lot more fair.

I like it--I am getting rid of a competitor on my main account who constantly underpriced me--she would have 50 or 60 of the items for 1 np less than mine. Hurray!

Yes, I noticed it too, and Id say its still in transition as quite often for very common items "Item not found" is coming up.

A couple of other items I have for sale, I refreshed my line ( A) about 30 times and the new A and N line didnt come up at all.

Im finding this is the slowest Ive ever sold anything,

though if its a huge data base restructure that would explain why,

SS:)

I think they made it random now, I think they should do this to the high-scores so people will wierd letters like ___ and * don't always get ahead of others with the same score.

Well, I think it's good and bad. It's good for the overall market if you're looking for a certain item at the best price. On the other hand, we'll probably be finding that we're shop wiz banned more often if there's 13 different sections instead of 8. All that refreshing, don't ya know.

The game scoring thing continues to mystify me. Why the person with the best score, regardless of name isn't at the top of the list instead of this random thing is weird to me.

I really don't think it is random. It might appear that way because not everyone's shop has been moved to the new lines (out of my 4 shops, three have, but one is still in the old g, o, w line).

I spend almost all of my time on the shop wiz because basically all I do on Neo is resell. The same letter combos are coming up each time I refresh and my various shops are showing up on the same lines each time.

I have seen some search results that a letter shared two groupings:

c, k, s
p, c

and

d, l, t
g, t

I think it is unfair IF those usernames starting with "t" and "c" might have their shops returned more often in the search results.

If you notice, the usernames shown on the c,k,s line are not the same as the usernames shown on the p,c line and same with all of the other lines. What appears to have happened is that Neo reorganized the lines and moved most of the accounts over to the new lines (the ones that share two letters now as opposed to three letters) but didn't move all accounts over. Those not moved over are on their old lines. The c,k,s and d,l,t lines that you wrote about are the old letter combinations--so, it makes sense that these are old lines with accounts that haven't been moved over yet.

And, I have done a bit of testing because I do nothing much on Neo but resell, so I am on the shop wiz all of the time looking for ETS's (except when I am shop wiz banned). I have three shops that were transferred over to the new lines and one shop stuck on the old g,o,w line. And, it doesn't show up on the new j, w line.

If you don't believe me, try a test with one particular item--like a negg or purple negg. After a few hundred refreshes for the same item, it might be easier to see what they have done.

So, basically, we now have 13 new lines, 8 old lines, and one "item can't be found" line shown. I think the "item can't be found" represents the numbers because the only numbers I have seen on the new lines are 3 on the d,q line and 8 on the i, v line.

Hopefully, Neo will realize that it didn't capture all accounts when it did its database transfer and fix this. It is a bit of a pain having to search through 21 lines in order to price something--particularly when it appears that the amount of refreshes before being shop wiz banned has not changed.

Well bad then for those with c and t accounts... how would they figure out which group they belong?

You don't really know until you test it out with something.

However, it does seem like they are making progress in moving all accounts over to the new system. The account I have that was showing up on the old g,o,w line yesterday has now been moved over to the new j, w line--and I can't seem to find the old g,o,w line anymore.

And, I am now starting to notice numbered accounts showing up on the shop wiz--where I didn't see this at all yesterday. The a, n line now has zero; b, o line now has 1, etc.

However, the old d, l, t line; e, m, u line; and c,k,s line are still showing up. But, I have a feeling the rest of them are gone. I haven't seen any other old lines and I have been refreshing like crazy.
