The hurricane barely hit where I am. All I got was a long power outage and heavy wind.

It's coming...at least it'll only be a tropical storm when it hits me, I'll only have to endure some heavy rain and somewhat-bad winds. A bit funny that earlier today I was out picking up sticks in my backyard. What a futile attempt.
Anyway, it's supposed to be here in an hour or two.

My aunt's house was completely demolished, along with most of the city where she lived. Can't remember the name of it now...It was the place where the hurricane made landfall. They're going to have to live on their boat for a few days.

Well, my mums friends in Florida at the moment, but I think she'll be about 200ft up in the sky by now. And this is affecting us Brits too! Hurricane Alex, when it was done, it's winds and heat and pressure went accross the atlantic and hit Britain. Because of it Scotland is having Monsoons and Tropical weather! And I'm not joking! There are mud slides here! We have been flodded in quite a few places right accross the country. And now we're being told that when Bonnie and Charley disappear they are headed for Britain as well! Oh what fun! The Americans of the forum are getting blown away and the Brits are going to Drown!
That's one thing I like about Britain^^ You're protecting our country from everything by getting hit

But... What will protect Holland when Britain is gone?
Anyway,
if Holland gets flooded, I will be safe in the south, far away from the sea

Punta Gorta was the hardest hit. Hope everyone is alright.

*wakes up, looks outside*
Woah, it's dry and sunny! I guess the tropical storm missed me then. Not that I'm complaining.
To everyone that had their/faimly's/friend's home(s) destroyed by the hurricane, good luck on rebuilding! You'll need it.

I'm lucky I live in such a safe place, we don't have hurricanes, earth quakes or anything

Talking about hurricanes, here in Wellington we just had a 2 day storm which overturned cars, destroyed trees, flooded fields and house, and in general made everything rather wet.

That didn't happen to be Sanibel/Captiva did it? My Florida geography is terrible.
We completely missed it where I was, we got a little rain that I'm not sure was even related.

Well, we just got a storm as well. There was a mudslide on a motorway that covered it, and it was an A Class road. And the town of Boscastle has been totally flooded. A lot of buildings have been destroyed.
