Okay this may seem odd and random but i was just contacted by someone on AIM and told to download an autobuyer.

I remember a thread not long ago where the question of what an auto buyer is and/or looks like so heres a link to the screenie of the program (PROVIDED ON THE SITE!! NO I HAVE NOT AND WILL NOT DOWNLOAD IT NOR WILL I PROVIDE THE LINK!)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/ ... /buyer.jpg

I'm very disturbed by the willingness some people show to cheat...

I was just wondering on how i would go about reporting this to TNT? I seriously have no clue.

Just one more thing i'd advise you to remove your messaging program screen names from your profiles as this is the only place i have mine listed and i was most prbably contacted through that.

That is very disturbing. I'm not sure how to tell you to proceed unless you've got a username. AIM, from what I understand, people can just change their name on. So that's no help.

I guess you could look through Contact us and see if there is a way to report this without having a username. Did you save the AIM conversation? That would probably be a big help - in proving that you are not interested in such a thing and that this was simply offered to you. Giving TNT the url for that would be a very good thing - provided you don't get in hot water for just knowing the url.

BTW, I completely agree that no one here should have any of their contact information so readily available - not IM, AIM, YIM, email. If you want to talk to someone from here that you feel you can trust, you can PM and give that specific person the information. Plus there are programs that troll forums like this one looking for email addys for spam, etc.

yeah the AIM convo is saved as a image and also in text form. I found a form to fill out for email scams but i didn't find anything for programs as the supposedly don't exist... Or so i've heard  Where's Adam when you need him?

I don't mind people using my profile to contact me it's just the possibility that there are some ppt'ers willing to use such a program... but then again it could just be a random browser. If people just kept to the rules Neo would be so much of a better place!

LOL, the person contacted me too. He even gave me his PPT username, but he may just be lying and framing up another person, so I do not intend to post it here yet. The autobuyer requires you to log in with your Neopets username and password, so it may be a scam for all you know.

Did they contact you on AIM as well?? With a username involving crazy and neo plus of course a winged mythical creature with various capital letters scattered around?

No, I don't use AIM. He contacted me on MSN, with a simple username - Jim (not the other Jim on this forum :P). He didn't seem very worried about getting frozen though, saying that he only used the ab'er on a sub-account and that he was on dial-up, so his IP cannot be tracked.

If you have his email address, and the link of the autobuyer website, you can report those two. I unfortunately lost the convo with him as I forgot to save it.

edit: I have his email, but I lost the link.

I can understand why some people would use an auto buyer, I mean, someone could save up for months and months, and only have about 600k, and still not be able to afford anything while others make millions in short amounts of time, and this might lead them to want to cheat.

But still, I find it sad that someone would stoop so low as to cheat on a website like neopets :/

Yes but cheats are available for almost every game in existance. Just think of the platform and PC games available at the moment....

When there is an oppertunity to cheat the sad thing is people will take it!

Spira and myself were also contacted tonight by someone trying to get use to go to the cookie grabber or trojan or whatever it was that the link would've led too. I was hoping it was just going to be me, but apperently it was a lot of people.

*shrug* there will always be people like that. and as for the cheats for games and stuff, i walked into my newsagent today to buy another magazine, and saw like 7 magazines which were purely dedicated towards cheating on ps2, gameboy and ect.

and i believe people from here got frozen last time before the forums crashed because they posted their msn emails and a scammer/s used them in making new accounts, then switching the email to the ones people had listed, used the account for cheating and wham! alot of people got frozen. theres lots of malicious people out there. :( and i think this is one more, it looks like a very well made scamming program :(

If you see my sanity, get it to give me a call.

What is the point of games if you cheat on them? You are totally losing the point of playing the game, i.e challenging yourself. All you do is give yourself a fake sense of accomplishment.

I can see that people may get frustrated because they cant earn as much as other people, but whats the point in cheating? Where is the satisfaction in aquiring something off your own hard work? Im not a poor neopian but Im not uber rich either, but every trophy, avatar and neopoint I have, I got it from darn hard work and everytime I look at them, I know that I did it on my own. It is a hollow victory if you gain things because of a program.....
