Does anyone know which weapon + defense would be best for me?

I have a budget of about 10,000.

You're definitely going to need more than 10K to make a half-decent set. A few days of game-playing (or restocking, or whatever you're best at) should get you enough NP.

I wrote a very long post here with a good, cheap set for newbies to the BD.

Can you earn any items and/or NP from participating in the Battledome- in games such as Defenders of Neopia? Or is spending 100K all pointless and just for fun? I'm trying to find a way to earn more money and be able to afford the full lab map. :)

when there are wars, you can get a lot of good prizes if you're strong and have good items. it's mainly to look cool though.

You don't earn any items from DoN, but every time you beat a new DoN challenger, you get an upgraded trophy. :)
