I believe it orignially stemmed from this thread:
http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14908

However it's been stated that it was false in that same thread.

It appeared on the BD board and it has been proven false.

Yes, it is stupid that that rumor is still going around -- Adam and at least one other staff member (Snarkie? I forget, but it was described in the prior thread) have referred postively to AdBlock.

I'm sorry to hear PPT is perpetuating the story.

As far as I'm concerned, it really wouldn't matter all that much if it were true . . . because if it weren't for AdBlock, my wife, daughter, & I wouldn't be on Neopets anymore anyway. Freezing would be superfluous.

You can block em in firefox without using additional programs anyways =) But yeah it's not true anyway - a website would not be a popular one if it thought it could dictate things like that hehe.

Sure they were. Here's the true story.

Testing_a_theory created a fake screenie showing an "e-mail response" from Jennifer to him/her about their icing. In this, "Jennifer" said that ad-blockers are detected as autobuyers. This screenie convinced quite a few people, and yes, this was the same case as on IDB.

Yesterday, a person who visited IDB forums posted a board on the BD boards, warning people about using an ad-blocker.

Near the bottom of the first page, snarkie (yes, the snarkie) posted, saying

1) The screenie was fake
2) Jennifer denied writing it
3) Snarkie herself uses an ad-blocker at home

Two minutes later, testing_a_theory iced. For impersonating a staff member.

Ahh got it. Cheers for the update. I forgot to mention that the posting was a rumor when I initally posted it and added that later the next morning.

I thought it sounded fishy.. I'm glad it was a fake rumor after all that.
