They don't really bother me all that much. I mean, Their on the bottom of the page.. Unless you scroll all the way down you don't really see them.

Though, the same old banners are getting boreing.. ;.;

(Ignore me.. I don't like to complain. :P)

It's nice that they're served from outside the neopets image server, so a simple hosts block goes a long way.

*twitch*

I thought I was seeing things when I first saw the ads, since I was in the games room. Then I realised they were on every page.

I don't want to change to FireFox. I'm too used to IE, after using it since 1997. But at the rate this is going, I'm considering using FireFox for Neopets. If anyone manages to work out how to remove the bottom ad with CSS (I've already removed the top :P), I will love you forever.

And you guys are right... Some of the content is really questionable. It almost makes me wish the Australian media gets hold of it, 'cause it might force Neo to do something, like they did with the Luck/Chance games.

Everyone was new to something at one time. Once you get used to Firefox (and it is fairly simple to adapt to), you will never want to use IE again. :P

*screams and runs around* You're one of THEM!

Ahem. Yes. But I've tried Firefox and it's... not the same!

You know, after talking to another PPTer about this... I wonder what the response from our (Australian) media would be, and if it had an effect on some of the ads with questionable content...

It's javascript, and therefore is impossible/hard(er) to block with CSS. However... http://accs-net.com/hosts/what_is_hosts.html

Orange Juice meet computer screen. That, while sad, is the funniest thing I've seen all day cause of the context.

I saw someone on the neoboards suggest this: next is the sponsor battledome challengers.

Ronald McDonald attacks you with his Burger Bomb!
Ronald McDonald Freezes you with his McFlurry!

Back to the real thing: this is too much IMO. As they do not bother me as much, they are so annoying. It looks like the pages were thrown together in 3 minutes, the ads don't fit. Oh well, all we can do is watch more ads come.

EDIT: Now I cannot find the neo server

Argh!!! Neo is soooooooooooo slow today.
Wonder if the ads have anything to do with it?

I noticed the same thing. My guess is that yes, they do have a lot to do with it. :x

I don't know if we'll get anywhere, but I wanted to do something. I'm supporting it with my fansite. I can't be the first person to try this (I don't have time to read 17 pages of discussion), but please take a look. It's like shooting a moose with a water gun. But I'm not just going to sit here and watch.

The name is after the Doughboy, my nickname for Doug Dohring.

You know, even when the top banner ads put on on, I never considered switching to Firefox. Now I'm definitely considering it. Granted that I can be dense about things like this so probably wouldn't be able to figure out how to block the ads anyway :P but I'm still considering it.

I think a petition is a great idea! I personally don't see the ads because of the ad-blockers I have. But I really am ethically against what Neopets is doing. I think it is horrible to subject players to one ad, let alone three. I am seriously looking around at other places to play because I am so against what Neopets is doing. On one hand I feel slightly sad about that idea since I'm not finding anything as good as Neopets and I've been here for so long (since 2001), but on the other, I don't really want to stick around to see the end.
