I like NQ2 better too because there are four characters (and they actually have names). I never got to finish NQ1 anyways because I got discouraged after I lost to the archmagus

.
I'm in the lost desert, normal difficulty. It's so big and the enemies are so annoying to fight. I'm going to the hermit now (I'm level 37). I stopped in the middle of playing last time and now I have no idea where I am because everything is just sand...

died on zombom on insane... 6 times in a row so far. i think ill give up
i tried level 12, 4 decimates defeated me. he keeps using zeal to go 2x per turn, and no matter how much i healed, he beated me
2nd time, level 13. he did same strategy as before, and i died.
3rd time, level 14. same strategy.
4th time, level 15, same.
5th time, level 16, same again.
6th time, level 17. i had 11 pts in damage increase, and 5 in magic resistance. and the same strategy still.
i just wasted over 30 hours for nothing. i give up. or at least temporarily

Fool Hi:  Ouch. I would have said level 12-13 was fine for Zombom on Insane. (13 is safer, but that last level is a pain in the smurf. Come to think of it, how did you manage to get that many levels before facing Zombom?)
remybuxaplentyfan: If it helps, I'm just past Lakeside on Evil right now and the only upgrade I bought was a new sword for Rohane. (I already had a fairly decent armor for Rohane I got off Zombom, Mipsy's wands are never worth upgrading -- use the enchanted ones from bosses -- and I decided that for only 2 more defence points Mipsy could wait for Seaside for a new robe.)

17? Ok...OUCH! I dunno how much that hurts to be honest.

I guess I'm the only one then.
I find NQ2 lacking something that I found really interesting in NQ1. Maybe it's that I can identify with one character better than four. Or perhaps NQ2 is too cluttered with skills and the time factor in battles.
I think NQ1 is harder to play. The bosses are more challenging, levelling seems to take longer and there's less emphasis on items(IMO).

I actually found NQ1 easier. Granted, it does take some time to level up, but it's a lot simple, and there's only one act

Don't forget the maximum level

(level 50).

I got the second half of the medallion today.
I think that NQ2 has a better storyline though. It makes it more interesting.

Mipsy: Obliterate vs Astral Maelstrom
I'm playing on evil now, which should I get? I mainly want the skill for fighting Terak II, as I overtrain so much that he (and to a lesser extent Terak I) are the only bosses I find difficult. Obliterate will do more damage, which is better against a single monster, but I think I read somewhere that it's resisted more than Astral Maelstrom? Anyone conclusively tested this? Also, when using Mipsy I noticed the "Damage" of her wand made no difference, so I just used whatever wand I'd picked up with the best +skills on it. DO wands make any difference for Mipsy?
Thanks for the help

No, wands don't make a difference for Mipsy. I'm not quite sure about the resisting thing though... I just picked both

. Well I'm on normal, so I guess it shouldn't matter THAT much.

I haven't had time to play NQ2 for a while, but I completed Act 3 just now at level 46.
In my game, Obliviate works completely only in some cases but is invaluable when I want a pesky monster that heals, sets up shields and does a lot of damage, picked out quickly. I also found it works well on early bosses.
Astral Maelstrom seems to be resisted far less among normal monsters I engage in and delivers the 64 damage consitently.
I use both skills.

I'm having the same probs deciding which is better. Astral is better for groups but don't work on some bosses well...sighs...

Levelling on Insane = annoying as hell. I gave up
As for the GDD vs. DD debate, I decided to go for both this time round. I worked it out with the points I'd have, and decided I'd be able to spare the points for both of them.
In other news, I'm on the second level of Nox's tower. Yes, I decided (probably stupidly), to try and beat him. We'll see if I actually do though ;P

I have always upgraded both GDD and DD to max (or almost max, depending on weapon boosts). What other better things are there for Mipsy to spend her skill points on? She's meant to do damage, man!
