In any case, I noticed the fuzziness and saw the ship. On the last panel of the comic (with the map and ship), I notice the ship looks a little fuzzy? Relevance? Uhh...no clue. But if it was all intentional, go TNT for looking into those small details! d-(^_^)z

I definitely noticed the ship was fuzzy in the last panel of the comic. Now after checking Mystery Island again, it does seem almost blurred. Your eyes aren't playing tricks on you.

Yup, it's blurry on my computer and on my sister's. I'm wondering if it was intentional on TNT's part.

I thought the ship was just blurry because TNT resized it in a hurry so it could fit on the MI map. :P

Also, probably belongs in Gloat and Cry, but I saw a bluchard root for 4k on the Shop Wizard and missed sniping it when I went to grab NP from the bank! Although I question the motives of the person selling it for that low a price....

Officer 1BDI wrote:Guessing from what I gathered from the new comic, it looks like Hoban was the ship's navigator. On the last page, he seems to have a whole slew of scrolls, which I think are maps (*pokes the compass hanging off his belt*), and it would explain why Linae is blaming him for the weather trouble: she doesn't seem to believe he knows what he's doing.

Well, in my mixed-up/all-bubbles-showing second page, there are several quotes that have "navigator" as a name. If on the normal page these are replaced with Hoban, I'd say he's definitely it. Here are the quotes:

The NAVIGATOR came to assist. But he seemed upset.

Is everyone okay? Good. We need to get back on course. Where's NAVIGATOR?

We searched high and low, but could find no trace of NAVIGATOR. I'm sorry, but that is all the information I have.

The emphasis is not mine. I would guess that they used navigator as a tag until they named him, and made it big to make sure they remembered to sub in the name.

On the MI front, I couldn't see the ship, but the island did look a little fuzzy. The ship wasn't showing up on my HTML map, even when refreshing, but when I switched to flash, it showed up. It was still there when I switched back to HTML (even after leaving and returning). I figured I'd post this in case other people were having trouble seeing the ship. I didn't notice any change in fuzziness before and after the ship's appearance. But I went swimming today, so everything's a little fuzzy...

Map piece from 2nd chapter maybe?

EDIT - was trying to figure out what this picture was from.. it seems the person noticed something on the end of the ship while viewing it on the mystery island map and zoomed in... they have like extra good vision too see that lol

also.. i just noticed the weapons guy is climbing down the boat with a rope and some sort of device/weapon in his hand.. maybe he is trying to fish it out?

-- it seems it could also just be the rudder o_O

Im currently scanning neoboards for clues so will post if I find anything useful

everyone seems to be going nuts over the parrot thing though.. just a coincidence if you ask me

I think it's to show the focus on the map, not the ship. Think about this. When you read a book, and there's something in the distance, it's blurry. TNT was probably going for the same effect.

Also, I think the captain is supposed to be Zheng He, the ancient Chinese navigator. He definitely looks the part. After seeing him, I'm a lot more supporting of the Gnorbu.

You know, in the narrative where you click to get to the second chapter of comics it says,

"Unless you find your own ship and your own crew to search the vast Neopian oceans, you'll not actually be much help here."

I wonder if we have to get something of the sort? Find a ship to use? Have any of the past plots involved this much? I was only recently part of LDP and Altador.

maybe hoban was carrying a map with him?

It's amazing how people try to scam people out of these plots and stuff...

Really Sad To....

Maybe TNT made it fuzzy because it's their way of telling us to look closer!

And I was thinking....it sounds as though we are going to be interviewing everyone on the ship. If this turns out to be true, we're going to end up with several different renditions of what happened and many potential red herrings, depending on what "facts" each crewmember mistakenly twists. This could also result in crew members intentionally misleading us with false information, too. Ugh! I have a feeling this is going to be a looong plot!
