The sad thing is, to avoid these kind of thing, we end up loosing something. I mean, how below the radar one must go?

- don't go on neoboards
- don't visit any site about NP you don't trust, what reduces my list to four, including ppt and... neopets itself
- don't advise your e-mail or instant messager service anywhere
- avoid common and, they say, easier-to-break-in free e-mail accounts.
- change the login code often, of both neopets and your e-mail account
- avoid posting your neopets name and/or the name of your pets elsewhere.
- avoid donating too much to the money tree or bidding in many items at once, in order to not atract attention to yourself
- and avoid big shops with tons of expensive items
- ... since we're at it, avoid winning too much trophies, too
- ...

Blues, aside from not going to the boards (I do love to lurk - and I like going to the HC if I can help someone with something neo-related)...otherwise? Your list is pretty much how I deal with Neo - and just about any other site I go to.

I totally agree with that, especially about the risk of getting trophies. Now that they have brought out the score confirmation thing, i panic everytime I score high enough to go onto the high score board as I have a very slow computer and that can sometimes be misconstrued as cheating.....

Maybe I should just spend all my time in ppt forums instead!:D

I have not, nor will I ever, use cheats on a multiplayer/online game. If I am competing with other people I muddle along as best I can. Mostly it means being unable to play the Neopets flash games unless they are untimed puzzles.

But with my physical disability even the easy level is often a bit much. So for my PS2 and single player PC games, I often end up enabling cheats that are built into the game. I love them, because they let me continue my gaming addiction. Trust me, the games are still plenty challenging for me.

The autobuyers, however, can all go &$*@3 and $%*@& with a $@%# @@#. Somehow I doubt they all have neuromuscular diseases.

Edit: *le sigh* all right all ready, I'll stop posting, I get it, I'm a thread killer. It's not fair to others when I post crap that destroys a discussion. Eh, it's not like I even play Neopets any more anyhow.

Well first of all there shouldn't be a problem with people sharing the AB over instant message clients anymore because it has a login check for the forum I released it at in the next version. It is a working AutoBuyer, and it works quite well. TNT knows it exists, but there isn't too much they can do unless they have the actual Neopets account names of people that use it. People cheat, they have in the past, and they will in the future. There will always be AB programs, so just chill out.

I still don't get the point. Aren't there better targets out there to practice your skills on? Network solutions? Hotmail? Banks? Ameritrade?

I still wonder whether it really is an AB or just something to grab your password, not that it matters cos I wouldnt use it anyway!!lol I think you would get alot more pleasure in spotting an item and beating everyone else to getting it on your own.

I thought the 'click on the wocky' thing was supposed to stop ABs? I dont see how someone could write a program to get round that....and if they have then cant neopets take that off cos then normal restockers would have a better chance at getting items as it slows you down.

If there is one thing you can guarantee about cheaters its that eventually they will get greedy and push it too far, thus bringing attention to themselves and your program and get themselves and others frozen. I have no doubt that TNT are working hard to eliminate cheaters from the game and just because they dont go yelling about it from the rooftops doesnt mean that they are not accomplishing this. Just look at the difference in the shops and how it is significantly easier to restock these days.

I personally dont think that there are many if indeed any ABs left on neopets but what do I know?!?!

xjox, according to some posts I've seen on various boards by real rs'ers, there are truly ab'ers out there - that work.

Shyster - well your name says it all, doesn't it. I know if I was a parent I'd be just oh so proud that a child of mine was growing up to be a cheater and encouraging others to do the same. [sarcasm, just in case]

If you have the skills and know-how to make something like that, why not use those same skills to do something helpful, positive and beneficial to people and maybe even ultimately profitable - real world wise - honestly.

I mean really, cheating, scamming, cracking ... on a game site?

O_o I only heard the rumors. I've never seen one before. That is rather disturbing and really sad to see the lows many users sink too.

At least Neopets continues to cracks down on those programs, but it still does not stop people from using them to gain an advantage on the site.
