For Neopets ONLY discussion.

Neopets has really gone too far this time.
Giving more random events and neopoints to people who pay is totally out of order

And giving away your information to third parties?!?! That's just wrong. I expect privacy when I sign up for things.
Sure, if you want to pay for an "@neomail" email address, thats fine, even though it basically has the same features as hotmail anyway. And its probably less secure
IMO, Neopets has hit rock bottom.
And its not getting any better either.

Wait a minute... what? In that it will be a merchandising thing? Forgive me, it is 12:30 in the morning, and I am tired.

Mocha, I wouldn't presume to put words in Neo's mouth, but to me, all the merchandise and now toolbar, portal, email, isp and rumors of a movie?! just sound like overload, which is partly what happened to Pokemon and many other popular games. When things get overly commercialized (those neopets tv ads! *shudders*) it seems to lose what made it special in the first place.
Like who is really going to buy the Mall Tour T's? I don't expect to see anyone walking down the street wearing one, unless they've bought it at a second hand shop because someone else got one as a gift, looked at it, and went Eww...

... Maybe everybody should e-mail neopets.com and tell them that they are NOT* going to make money in this...
*=maybe only a little

I am a little confused why this came back?
Anyway, since it did and the topic is the webmail, I read something and I'm just wondering if it's true. What I've read is that Neo can read all the emails you send or receive.
Now, I wouldn't send a sensitive or anything to do with a transaction, etc. using @ neomail . com, I wouldn't even email my other RL friends with it. But what if people do choose to use their neomail as a regular email service?
I know all providers have the ability to read a person's email, but that's usually in the case of them investigating, say, a potential scam or spoofing incident.
This sounds like the rest of the actual site - boards, guilds, neomail. I know the portal is part of the site, but it's not actually run by Neo, it's run by a separate company. Shouldn't that mean people should expect privacy, especially if they're paying for it?

Pretty soon, no one is going to play neopets because it will cost real money to get random events.
Fri Jan 07, 2005 1:05 am
Come on, FMA, that's getting quite a bit extreme. I think a lot of people are still blowing the Premium stuff WAY out of proportion. Seriously.
I wouldn't use the webmail anyway, it's just a place for me to pick up my Space Faerie scratch card. <_< I've just never understood why you'd want @neomail.com at the end of your e-mail address...

What kind of random events are they anyway? Are they " A red poogle passes you and says "Hi" or is it " Wow! You find a Mystical Codestone on the floor." I am NOT going to pay real money for a "free" site. Pretty soon Adam might SELL Neopets to someone who's gonna make us pay ten bucks for everything.

This thread was locked because it was necro'ed, meaning that someone bumped it up from the bottom of the board, just a reminder not to do that.
It is also not necessary to tell us to do something, exclaiming that the topic should not be here is backseat moderating, which is against the rules. If you are going to post that it's in the wrong place, only do it if it's attached to an intellegent post.
