I've been through most of the rooms so far and not in one i could open any books, is this normal? do you only get to open books in the right room or all of them?

Be sure you've visited the Archivist first as well as the Janitor just to be on the safe side.

Could someone please help me find my hunter constellation? I've been looking for two hours now...and all the stars are starting to blur together.

Argh! I half expected this all to be over when I got out of the hospital, now after spending the last few hours running around the archives I almost wish it was!
Do we know if there's 31 books in each room, or just the room our spellbook is in?

There are (or at least there have been for me) 31 books in every room.
The clickable books are in the same position in each room as well.

There's 31 books in every room, 35 links in the picture total including the four doors.
I'm waiting for the appearance of a new book shop on the altador map... Iit's got to be that obvious.

Or that there isn't going to be a clue in the future. It could be that althought the book can be found maybe the clue for it hasn't been released, hence why the spell can't be found.
Exactly what I think...Im an old timer with the plots...based on experience,I'd say that we should stumble on something definite....like

I dont think that this has any relevence but it is kinda funny that almost everything else to do with this plot had multiples of three. There are now 3 remaining neopets in the picture at the astronomy club and if you go in there they say "Three cheers for you! Hooray!" You had to have 3 rocks to jam 3 gears to make the right side of the ceiling go over 15 notches which is another multiple of 3. There are 12 constellations which is a multiple of 3, and doesnt every one of those have 6 stars? There were 3 punchbowls. There were 3 rooms in the waterplant. If you go to the docks there are 3 ships. There are 3 rays of sunlight on the altador map. And I am sure that there are more less obvious ones. I just thought that it was really interesting that there was alot of multiples of 3 throughout the plot.

Did you click on the picture of the sleeper at the end of the book to get her closeup?

Did you go to the book in the Archivist's office and look at the last page? There's a clickable picture on that page of the Darkest Faerie. I think that's the final bit for you before you start the book search.
