There's a new Haunted Woods-related
article in the Neopedia...
No obvious connection to the plot, but it might prove relevant later.

Thanks for posting all of those cards, stampsyne. It was really great to see it all organized like that.
Curing the Plague
I'd be willing to bet this one's related, but it looks very
grim for a card about curing a plague. Perhaps there's actually something good about the potion's effects that would make us not want it cured?

I am really interested about Sophie's storyline. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
The Krawk, to me, has a "Dr Krawkl" and Mr. Hyde or a "Krawk the Ripper" feeling to it.
(Not to sound like a complete dork or anything, but my Ixi LOVES Sophie. XD)

I'm a bit confused as to whether or not reginald took the potion or not. He's pictured in the panel saying only the innocent didn't take the potion, but then later they say that he got so smart no one would talk to him, as if he had taken the potion. Was the first one just a way to show that sophie didn't take it without showing her?
Also, to Artisticka- the non-flash version looks great. Just a suggestion- for the page overviews with none of the panels selected, you might want to have it lit up. If you put your mouse right on the border of the comic it'll light up everything without popping up any of the speach bubbles.

Yeah, I agree. I was also thinking of Aleister Crowley, the famous occultist, based on the name Krawley.

Reginald took the potion to become smarter. It didn't affect his appearance, just his brain, so he didn't grow ugly. But I have a feeling as he gets smarter and smarter maybe his brain will get bigger and bigger and he will look like a mutant kacheek after a while. Well he SHOULD anyway. It isn't fair that he gets to stay handsome while everyone else gets ugly. So I say that not being able to communicate because you use too many obscure or big words should be the least of his problems. I'd like to see him look like his brain is about to explode!
And in the article about the Eyrie, he stumbles upon some nasty green fluid that makes his shadow have a mind of it's own. This puddle of green fluid might be one of the ingredients of Mr. Krawleys prosperity potion.

The house in the Neovia Card looks creepily like its smiling at me, that probably isn't significant but what the heck, Anyways Im going to go look at that list of Cards. And post any Speculations on what it says on the cards.
Bruno was okay as long as he had light, mabey light has something to do with curing the townsfolk.
Illere as evil as she was beautiful, the was is past tense that could mean she used to be beautiful or she isn't around anymore.
Mr.Krawley famous for his MANY takeovers suggests hes been 1. doing this for a while
2.Nobody has been able to oppose him before
3. He can somehow control the people who drink the potion.
More evidence sophie wil be the Main char is the word "Hero" on her card

Imagine if Reginald turned into the Brain Tree. Farfetched, but maybe Sophie, after learning spells, was forced to do so in order to save him? Hmmmm.
Very far fetched, but would be cool if they explained the Brain Tree as well.

I never thought of him becoming the brain tree. That's funny stuff!

It
does seem a bit far-fetched, but it is
very creative. It would be a cool idea. Good thinking.

she looks cool, don't you think. i'm really looking forward to knowing what's her part in all this.
I would too, her character has so much potential

However, I don't like the image in the final frame where she is facing away from the "camera." They could have done more with her wings...
I also agree that they could have done more with the back-view of Ilere, but her overall artwork is really amazing

Ok, one thing I noticed about sophie is that she has a rope around her neck. Now neopets are our pets, but you won't be finding any leash items on the site. Our neopets walk beside us, not on a leash. We don't have to leash them. Even pet pets are not seen on leashes. But Sophie has a rope around her neck, and ragged clothing. I seems she is not getting treated well by Ilere, and in this picture it looks like she chewed her leash off, and just escaped back to her town. By the look on her face, she is discovering for the first time what has happened. She probably knows enough about magic at this time to be of some help. She probably isn't going to be taught magic, just pick up on it by being a cinderella to Ilere. Anyway, at least she is going to have a little mewclops to keep her company and she doesn't starve. But she never gets groomed or wears nice clothing. She probably has to make her clothing out of old sacks.
After she gets away from Ilere, I guess she goes on to become the swamp witch. Maybe she just prefers living alone after all this, because she has a bad reputation or something from her association from Ilere. The trading cards seem to suggest she isn't nice to people she doesn't like. One even shows her turning a techo into a newt for a potion. But maybe she is just bluffing.

Good thoughts there.
Perhaps she thinks the rope is a fashion accessory and the rags is her protest against commercialism and globalism and believes the best way to protest is to disassociate herself from contemporary shackles of fashion and go all bohemian?
Viva revolution!
There is no fricken way she could've chewed off that leash because it is so close to the knot... not unless she can be one of those exorcist 360 head turns.

I was thinking something along the same lines. There are lots of fairytale stories where the main characters are brought up by adults that are unkind to them. Like Cinderella or Snow White. Just a thought.

Or it could be more like Jungle Book-style: growing up in the forest with a witch instead of growing up in the jungle with wolves

I find it interesting that the character "Bruno" card is a hero card, yet the plot "Ugly Bruno" is a villian card...I wonder if his hero role changes when his transformation is complete.
